Post Count Ranks?

This is out of curiosity, but will there be ranks soon?
It might cause a problem though, with posting/spam, just wondering if they are going to be added. Since at one point in time, there was post count ranks, but text-only.

I thinks its a nice idea to add ranks,though I think there should also be the icon of what your rank is instead of it just being text.

Yeah, that's what we plan on doing, it wouldn't feel like much of a rank without the image anyways

I have a bunch of random animated Mario GIFs lying around. You guys can use them though, some of them weren't created by me but it's good that I saved a lot. I'll upload them and PM them all to an admin, if that is no problem? Plus, creating animated GIFs is no difficult task, it is quite easy actually. Anyone can do it so adding a rank system shouldn't be hard.

Alrighty, your wish is my command. Glad that we will have ranks though. I was thinking that maybe you guys could creat post count ranks out of GFX that have been created by community members, aside from original Mario ranks. I think it would be a good way to give back to some of the community members.

Ranks are fine aslong nobody goes crazy and spams in every thread just to get a better rank then his last one no offense to people who want to gain a high post count but for some peoples it is annoying then.

I'm sure that the staff is quite capable of handling spammers. Hmm... wondering... are you guys going to apply the same rank system the original forums used or ... ?

I'd prefer it more if we could request personalized ranks just because, but otherwise I don't really care if we have post count ranks or not.

Personally I despise imaged ranks in every single way because they make the miniprofile unclean

Sorry for the extremely late reply, I'm not sure if my opinion would matter now, but I'll share it anyways

I think that they are not needed, because they reward you for posting a lot. I'd rather be rewarded for the quality and the content of my posts, not for the amount of them. That is the reason why I said that, but there are of course some other reasons too. Ranks just don't really help anyone.

I would actually appreciate if the number of someone's post would not be displayed at all. I have seen forums that don't have a post count, and it's proven to work great.

The post count doesn't say anything. If you want to check if someone is new to the forum or just want to see for how long someone has been here, you can simply look at the join date.
