In my recent help forum http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... =35&t=3593 I very stupidly took a screenshot of the level I was working on fot the 8th level contest and posted it in my help topic. The whole level isn't shown as a majority is covered up by the save/open window, but it shows a good chunk of the begenning. If I remove the screenshot, may I still post the level? Or do I need to start from scratch with a new one? OR could I redo the first part of the level so it's different from the screenshot and still upload the level?
I would prefer an answer from one of the judges/whoever is running the 8th level contest, simply so I can get the most accurate information.

Talk to Valt about it. You possibly could change the level so that it doesn't match the screenshot, but either way, you will need to sort it out with the guy hosting the contest.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure somebody else did this, and all they had to do was change the parts of the level that were shown in the screenshot, at least that's what Valtteri said to do. I find it kind of bullshit anyway since you can't judge an entire level just by looking at a small image of it.

Because,
he's,
the one running it?
Who does he talk to? You?
(Alternatively, I use nicknames for people 8bit. Deal with it.)

You could keep it in secret, so nobody of the judges knows that those are screenshot of your level, bu now all know this, so you have to run and make an another level.

I agree with Christian here - you could've just let it blow over (or removed it silently) and it probably would've been fine. I guess there is a small chance someone would remember it and go "HEY THEY POSTED A SCREENSHOT OF THAT LEVEL" but I don't think it matters much. Valtteri may have different reasoning for this, so it's his call. I'm not exactly sure why he doesn't let people show screenshots but I'm sure there's a reason.

I think it was to reduce the chances for bias arguments due to judges knowing that certain levels' appearances belong to certain users.

The seems kinda pointless to me. I would have just continued on the level and just submitted it. A lot of people has done that in the previous contests.

FallingSnow got it right. It's to make sure the judges don't know who made the levels. Remove the screenshot and change the part that was shown in the screenshot and you can submit it.

I think that's a bit unfair. What if he really likes that part?

Then maybe he shouldn't have posted a screenshot of it.
There's nothing unfair in being a dolt.

I wouldn't exactly call him a dolt, but yeah.

It's literally the first screen, I can just edit the ground a little bit and move a few things. It's all good

But the problem is that if the level uses unique graphics it'll be so easy to recognise just from the graphics alone, such as the sign at the start of the level, so even if the sign is moved, it will be recognised as being in a different place, and so the user will be instantly recognised to have made the level. Also the name of the level was leaked as well in his help topic, which will give things away. But yeah, if that's happened, just ignore it and let it go, hoping that you won't be spotted by Valtteri and disqualified.

That might be pretty hard, but lets hope his chances are up.
