Dragon Ball Thread

Postby HeroOfRhyme » Thu Jul 03, 2014 3:55 am

As a fan of this anime, I've been really getting into it recently. I even named myself after a part of it. What are your guys' thoughts about this show? How do you think the story is? Which is best in your opinion? Should there be another series?

Here is my favorite site to watch the show, it has lots to offer. And please discuss!

I don't think there should be another series, because dragonball GT finished with all died apart Pam and her grandson.

Anyways, I watched Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT when I was young.

This might be controversial, but in terms of story I preferred Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z. I think parts of the Dragon Ball manga were different though but I'm too lazy to get out the box that they're in to look for inaccuracies.
I think the Super Saiyan trope get very overused and basically just "hey let'S ACSCNED TO SSJ2" rather than showing Goku's perilous journey to nearly winning the tournament and defeating Piccolo. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the entire Dragon Ball series a whole lot, and DBZ has its good qualities like introducing a lot of characters introduced like Gohan, the Androids, and Cell, but to me the plot was just.. not as great as Dragon Ball. Not to mention characters from Dragon Ball were sorta just shoved aside, and also none of them really have a chance against Goku, and sometimes Vegeta. Frieza's arc was the least enjoyable for me.
Also, the fighting was shorter since I didn't really want to watch 20 episodes of Frieza and his annoying voice or whatever, lol.

I like the Dragon Ball franchise. I've seen Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, as well as the movies. I haven't seen GT because the plot sounded really bad and the ratings were no different.

As for my thoughts about them, I think Dragon Ball is arguably better because it has much better pacing and the battles aren't 15 + episodes long. Dragon Ball Z started off really well. The first arc was entertaining and the Frieza saga was epic. It went down hill from that point. The Andeoid/Cell saga was decent, but the Buu saga was really disappointing compared to everything else. I enjoyed both, but I would definitely consider Dragon Ball to be the better of the two.

As I said, I have seen all the movies, and I definitely would NOT recommend them. There are a few good ones, but most of them are a waist of time.

GT is non-canon. That means it didn't happen, they just did it for fun. Also it's Pan. Also that was a spoiler, may you should put that in a tag.
