Luigi goes out to find Mario and the Princess when they go missing one evening, and wanders into a cave that had been sealed off long ago. He finds a strange glowing orb down there in the caverns, and when he touches it, everything around him changes.

Everything he knows is gone. Princess Peach's castle, even the Mushroom Kingdom.
