Hello, I dont really know Lua. Does anyone know an SMB2-style character select screen? If not, will it work to put Wario in the launcher page's character select option?

To my knowledge, there is no such screen yet. However, this should just be a menu like any other where you can then set the player.character/player2.character properties. Will look into the matter further and might come up with some code when I'm at home later.
