Let me know your must-play episodes from across the entire history of SMBX.

Whether they feature great design or are simply iconic, post which episodes you think best represent SMBX and the community as a whole.

it's hard to narrow down my personal favorites but here goes:

Level Collection by zlaker, A Tiny World Episode, and The Conquest all have different appeals (especially the last one due to its scale) but the big point for me is their solid, snappy level design. some good ass mario basically

Super Mario Enigmatic is hard as hell but super fun and creative. one of those episodes that really pushes what you could do with 1.3. highly recommend to people who feel they've mastered SMBX's controls and mechanics and want a tougher challenge

and the Castle of Oddities duology are more unconventional episodes that provide really fun score attack experiences and really test your proficiency with the wario moves tetrapack. i like the bite-sized levels, unique mechanics and rough but deliberate presentation. my go-to weird shit pick

If we allow Contest Episodes, I would say The Claarglands is still the best collection of contest levels we've ever had all in one place. A lot of really creative levels in there.
The Gloaming Realm has been a forever favorite of mine. Story-rich and melancholy is something you rarely see.
Gardens of Purity is another different flavour of atmosphere that in this community really only Waddle is capable of. Easy recommend for a highlight.
It's sorta cheating because I worked on it, but A2XT Gaiden 2 (the one where you play as Pily to overthrow the government) is the best demoverse episode by far. Good levels and fun story, and doesn't overstay its welcome because it was made to be experienced in 10 minute chunks of gameplay.

Super RMN World: Yoshi's Archiepielago. honestly one of if not the best episodes imo. Probably on the same level as some official mario games.

for me, I loved Mario Classic, Super Mario Bros. 0, Betterified VI: Bestified, Luigis Lost Memories, A Tiny World Episode (ATWE), Return to Dinosaurs Land and og Marios Delightful Adventure

also, if episodes like Battle Arena or my personal project Dueling Trials count as well where there is player vs player action (such as battle mode in both episodes and a racing minigame in my own episode), customizable content, online play from Battle Arena and custom levels support in both of these episodes, that would also be amazing to have if someone is looking for multiplayer (Battle Arena) or local-multiplayer (Dueling Trials and Battle Arena). although I believe they’re technically "different" episodes, their function is definitely more unique than the usual ones. because of that, I think it would make sense to give them a dedicated tab on the website, just to avoid any confusion because of the differences these particular episodes have, only if these episodes are even considered/eligible to be added

Personally I think The Conquest, in general, should just become a standard pre-packaged episode for the engine like Invasion 2 is. Other than that, Subzero Heroes obviously. Level Contest Japan and MaGLX3 maybe? They are contests but they still contain good levels. As for 1.3, my vote definitely goes to Star Expedition and the Talking Time Bros. series. Super Mario Bros. 0 and Yoshi's Archipelago also used to be in the recommendations tab of the old site. Return to Dinosaur Land was also a pack-in for Beta 3, so I can see it getting a spotlight, too.

Battle Arena is so much fun. Outside of The Conquest, this also very much deserves a spot as a pre-packaged title. I actually wouldn't recommend it as an "episode," considering it's a wholly different gamemode. A pre-pack-in for future builds would be its highest honor I believe.

I almost feel bad saying this given the recent discovery of asset theft in it, but I've recently fallen in love with a minisode called Industrial Revolution. Beyond that, Subzero Heroes is incredibly well made, Delightful Adventure - Enhanced is an episode that, in my opinion, absolutely deserves to up there. I also still think both STTB2 and STTB2.5 hold up quite well.

Apocalypse of foroze is one my favorites, i mean, it is amazing, it has really cool and original levels, it has a great story, amazing boss battles and the main villain is really original and cool.

A very incomplete list of my own personal favorite episodes would probably include TI2 (a timeless and irreplaceable classic), SRW2, The Fallen Spirits, Lost Temple, and 2k15 Summer Takeover.

And contest episodes (and we should have a few imo), includes:
- The Blaarglands (CCX2)
- Tower of Biased X (given this also includes the winners of all prior contests as a bonus minus the jank/trolling/offensive shit of older contests, means if you only pick one ToB, this one makes the most sense)
- Tower of Biased 2 (the classic ToB is still the best in many ways, like actual good joke levels)
- MaGLX3

Gonna caveat your list by stating #9 was made by a formerly popular but now loathed and banned user (for reasons i will not go into here). Any revived episode page on the website will almost certainly omit episodes made by banned users, regardless of how popular their works were. All the other games in that list are must haves.

I would recommend some cool episodes such as: Mario Classic, Super Mario Bros. 0, Super Mario Star Expedition, Zlaker's Level Collection, ATWE, The Conquest and many more.

SMSE looked very original, levels were really pleasant to eye, mostly kept in SMB3 style and were really expanded. I loved a concept of HUD and star-based system in levels.

Mario Classic had an awesome world map where player could sometimes choose which path to go on.

Super Mario Bros 0. is soooo nostalgic. Probably one of the best looking episodes. It also had a flagpole-styled exits. Graphics were really neat and kept in mix of SMB1 and SMB3.

The Conquest was also very nostalgic as it reminds me the bright times of good, old The Invasion 2.

For newer episodes from X2 era I could not find so much motivation to play and explore, because at most time I spent on playing some legacy episodes on phone, by TheXTech.
