HUD Editing Tool?

Postby Giggs-Chan » Fri Oct 28, 2022 10:13 am

I've seen that there are people who create custom HUDs for their episodes. They often come with some sort of folder set and I'm wondering if there's a simple way to edit the way the HUD looks using a real-time editor or something.

huds are usually just mocked up in an image editing tool like paint.net or aseprite, and then the images are exported, and the hud is assembled in lua. there is no dedicated editor.

Um ok. considering it's not a thing, I rely on other peoples' creations to make a HUD template, and to modify the font, I just modify it in paint.net. I also wonder if it's possible to have player icons depending on what character you are without it saying "1UP x 5" for example.
Example: If you're Mario, the icon shows (_M_) x 5. If you're Luigi, the icon shows (_L_) x 5, you get the idea. But I'm wondering how you do it using a seperate episode without modifying the game itself. Even Wario has own icon saying "WAH".
