Weird error causing some things to not behave properly

Postby LtDuck » Tue Jun 07, 2022 7:36 am

Hi! I used SMBX 1.4 for quite a long time, but I recently decided to migrate to 2.0, and it was working really well, but yesterday my PC crashed while using it, and now everytime I test a level, it gives me an error window, and after that some stuff stop working properly (NSMB Star Coins, and SMB3 Starman are the ones I noticed, but maybe there's more).
Since it happpened after my PC crashed, maybe it corrupted something, but I already tried reinstalling SMBX, and it gives me the same error.

Here's the error:

Does someone know how to fix this?

if your pc crashed during testing or editing there's a chance any level files open at the time could be corrupted. does this error occur on a fresh, newly-created level as well? you might be able to restore the levels using any "bak" files left over in the episode folder, and you should also try removing the "progress.json" file inside the episode directory.

also keep in mind that:
- some things will not work if you use the "lvl" format as opposed to the "lvlx" format that is generally recommended when using smbx2
- levels created in smbx-38a are not compatible with smbx2

I tried making a new level and yeah, looks like the levels were corrupted, since the new level works fine.
I removed "progress.json" in the episode directory like you said, it worked! Thanks!
