the background problem is fixable. what you have to do is first download the PGE editor. then search for the manager. you can find the next steps in a link on page 4. poison tree is a nightmare without the background fix. as for cheats they seem to be special cheats so they,re made for this game. hopefully i helped.

ok thanks ... in what way do I have to download PGE and inject it into the main game folder? Or could I just look up something in my SMB2PAL installation? What is the manager?

i will TRY to help some more. so i downloaded the PGE by simply searching. you don,t have to place it in any smbx folder just can use PGE to go to any i think.the manager can be found by typing PGE in the download folder. ( at least that is what i did) then you go to that episode and it should be smb1 and 64. i might of missed one thing or more and i might not be perfect with english.

Before I make a standalone installation of PGE, I would like to know:

1. Do I really need a standalone installation, in other words, is it not located inside the PGE subfolder of, say, SMBX2PAL? (just saying, searching "PGE" there is useless as it just lists all files, since the folder is literally called PGE).
2. Does it hold for PGE's newest version?
3. What's the exact name and type of the file that I'm looking for? Can you please screenshot it?

To fix up A2XT Episode 1 with messed up BGOs you do NOT need to use PGE Editor. You need an another component called as "PGE Maintainer". It's in the PGE folder and called as "pge_maintainer".
- Start it
- use the level/episode converting and fixing
- Choose an episode path where A2XT Episode 1 is located
- Choose target format "SMBX1...64"
- Press "Start" and wait until it will pass all levels

so I went through the steps and used "Saved Games > A2MBXTBaseInstall > Main Game > worlds > Episode1" as that is where the episode levels are located. All was converted, but the game got destroyed. Saved progress is gone, the first screen of the episode is frozen, nothing is happening. (I also had the audacity of not making a backup, but I still have the save file).

Wohlstand, didn't you say you have an A2MBXT installation where this bug is already fixed?

@Cedur, the link you gave, is post-1.3 updated and requires LunaLua-SMBX or SMBX2 for a work.

i think i can't play the game anymore unless i delete my anti-virus software? (or should i say protect software?) it apparantly keeps finding a virus (in both old and newer version)....why is it so hard for me to play this game?

i think i actually have 2 AVG antivirus and MCafee total protection and they don't seem to allow me......

I can tell that McAfee has a really bad reputation in this community.

That's the name for the level and world files formats used by SMBX 1.3. The set of 1...64 means the ability to choose the version you want to use: The 64 is the format for SMBX 1.3, the lesser number means older versions of SMBX (such as 1.2.x, 1.1.x, and 1.0.x).

The episode itself has this format already, however, the goal is to repair files that were written with an incorrect order of BGO that caused them shown wrong at a certain level. So, this wizard will basically fix up these levels without conversion.
