A few new ideas

Some discussion came up in the chat earlier today about the current state of the Fan Fiction/Roleplaying board, and I think bringing it some activity is a good idea. We all kind of agreed that we should do a big Marioverse RP.

We also talked about developing a system for creating and running RPGs. This would entail an RPG suggestion/approval topic (necessary for creating an RPG), a character creation and approval topic, and a general discussion topic for all active RPGs.

Another idea I thought of was bringing the game "Mafia" (sometimes called "The Werewolf Game") here to the forums. It's a really fun game that promotes problem solving and reasoning skills - I'm sure most of you have played some form of it at some point, but this link will describe it just in case.

We would have a group of users called "Game Masters" that would moderate RPGs and Mafia games as well.

I've added a poll to this thread mainly to see interest levels in both games - we will not make any decisions until there are at least 50 votes in the poll (excluding votes for the last option). Participation in both RPGs and Mafia will require heavy dedication, so I'm not going to add these things until I'm sure we'll have enough people willing to participate. Please use this thread to discuss this stuff further.

MAFIA IS THE BEST MOTHERFUC- i'd be okay with that.
not a big fan of rp though, myself.

Mafia sounds really cool, and I wouldn't mind doing that.

RPs, not so much. Roleplay forums never last long before dying, it seems.

Honestly, I find the forum's current state a lot better. Although, I think adding Mafia could be really cool, so my vote goes for Mafia.

As many people, I'm not too fond on RPs, and as far as I know, the amount of people that actually participate on RPs usually never goes further than 10% of the userbase. Adding RPs sounds pretty useless to me.

I disagree with the people who think the roleplay isn't a good idea because it won't garner much activity. A good roleplay can boost people's interest and we can finally develop this community's RP standards. Though not many people participate in roleplays, we're still maturing as a community, and this is a great opportunity.

Roleplay has always been something I sought in this community. Unfortunately roleplay here is either low quality or it dies out.
Me, Pixy (or Raster FFS), and 8bit talked to Joey about this last night and I am glad he is willing to implement our ideas.

i don't like the rpg idea, because it would mostly be "A WILD SATANIST-MECHA-GIANT-DOTAPRO BOWSER HAS APPEARED, MARIO HAS USED A FIREBALL STRONGER THAN A REGULAR FIREBALL BUT WEAKER THAN A REGULAR FIREBALL"

im down for the mafia idea though

Will the current RPG forum still remain? It seems to be pretty popular and I know people like their freeform RPGs.

Yeah, "adding RPGs" really just means "reforming the RP board".

Most of the RPGs that are currently there probably won't live up to the quality standards that will be set. While I don't want to discourage these people from playing, I'm not going to keep low-quality RPGs in the board.

Can the existing RPGs be grandfathered in?

Something I forgot to ask Joey is if TUA would be weaved into it. I also have to ask if I can become a Roleplaying Moderator.

Something I forgot to ask Joey is if TUA would be weaved into it. I also have to ask if I can become a Roleplaying Moderator.

He told me Quill would probably be picking the GMs for the roleplaying board.
