So, what do you think of Smbx?
My opinion.
I personally love it, especially the fact that unlike mario maker, there are way less limitations. The community seems pretty nice, and the game doesn't have much hot garbage or little timmy levels, so most of the levels are pretty nice. I've been playing this game for years, although I didn't make an account (mostly because of shyness). The variety it has is also another great thing about it, and the graphics also allow you to play on a potato pc. I wish it had more members though. Also I think the title screen on Smbx2 is outdated, but that doesn't really matter. Until lately I've been playing it nonstop because I lost interest in almost anything else because of my mental health, and also I love mario games.
Review: 9.5/10

That's too generous of a review score. And did you even played the Autumn Vanilla Level Contest 2019 episode? >_>"

Well ummm... no I didn't play it. Also the thing is that I normally don't even notice a game's flaws. I normally only look in episodes, because I like a lot more playing a full campaign than individual levels. I do agree that level contests have some amount of garbage, now that I think about it, since I've played levels from magl (Make a good level)

smbx is one of those games that i just keep coming back to over the years. it's hard for me to score such a community-based game on a scale though. i'll just say that i really love it and especially now after the last three weeks or something that i've been playing this again, i have a newfound passion towards level creating. for downsides, the community isn't too large, which means less levels and episodes but that also creates a very tight-knit feel.

I agree. I think Smbx is like, one of the easiest games to come back to after a long time, and it takes pretty long to lose interest in.
Also I want to say that I love the first mario games on NES and SNES, so that also makes me enjoy this even more, since it kinda plays like those games, and it's basically a combination of them (But at least the physics aren't that jank, thank god).
Edit: I think I've been way too active lately.

Maybe not for you even though you use it also, but it’s probably one of the best fan made level editors there.

True, also he didn't even say why he doesn't like it.

nah smbx genuinely kinda sucks and is a chore to make levels in.
PGE is slightly better than legacy editor but it's still all a chore.

I personally like the big screen in SMBX, it makes expanding ideas to their fullest potential easier.
I also like how easy the controls are to get used to and how the ceilings are not slippery, though the acceleration and deceleration rate are too low for my taste as well, except for Toad.
Admittedly though, the editors are not too beginner-friendly but the engine is p. versatile especially consider LunaLua's possibilities.
But I see the appeal in Lunar Magic, I just can't grasp its magic and seems even less beginner friendly ngl.

I feel like the level editor is easy to use once you fully understand how to, but it does feel kinda overwhelming at first Also Lua is kinda difficult to learn because it isn't really well known, so there are only a few tutorials. Also for some reason I can't find some of the scripts in the game files, which is a bummer because I could use it as an example for how to program some similar npcs.

NPC packs are still pretty versatile and don't need too much extra input from the designer plus I do agree that after getting used to it, the editor is pretty decent.
