Welcome to the official site for SM: Heroes on the Star Quest. Here you can gameplay info, videos and lot of other stuff.

Before reading
Whenever I say "returning items" then I mean items from past Mario games not SMBX episodes. Thsis site will be updated and if this episode don't get much recognized I'll maybe cancel it. Not everyting shown off will probably not appear in the game. I'll be really busy sometimes so I will not always post screenshots. And I'm really sorry if the development is really slow, but it's really hard to make this project alone so I'll maybe release this in late 2014 or the start of 2015. So be patient please. I could need some level desingers, but he or she have to make a really good level. Just PM me a level I'll jugde it. If you have any suggestion or ideas to this game just PM me. I will also post some videos showing some levels. And I won't tell you guys the secret of the Double Cherry understood?!

Game Info
Heroes on the Star Quest is a bit complicated to play. When you download this game you have to play the SMBX in the folder you have downloaded. And don't put it inside the folder "worlds", because that will just mess things up. So that basicly means that you don't have to replace stuff. Which makes things alot easier for you.

Plot
The plot won't be reaveled yet because it very hard to understand when you start off the game. You'll get known to the story when you progress through game.

Gameplay
SM: Heroes on the Star Quest plays similarly as past SMBX episodes, but will this episode will play similarly as modern Mario games, such as NSMB and 3D Mario games, such as SM64, SMS, SMG series, 3D Land and 3D World. Of course enemies from those titles are back and a lot of gameplay elements (Mystery Box, Purple Coins and etc.). And levels are similar to those game being linear. But this project will a big collection of what kind of levels you'll play (puzzle, vertical, levels where you have to ride a tank or a submarine, transporting from foreground to background and etc.). Some levels will also have a different theme to world theme (candy themed level or a circus level) and some are unlockable levels. But I'll get to that later. The levels in this episode is similar as those in the NSMB series. They'll have Stars, Checkpoint, power ups and gameplay elements. And Stars has much more purpose in this episode. There is three star sin every level. You can later use those stars to unlock levels and secret worlds.

And the world map is a bit different than what you would expect. Instead for only having levels there are Mystery Houses, Toad Houses and Enemy Blockades. And the Mystery Houses are a bit different than those in SM3DW. If you lose a challenge you'll actually able to continue and and do the rest. And each challenge you complete you'll get a Star. There are 5-8 challenges linked up together. Enemy Blockades will also give one Star. And four types of Toad Houses. Red Toad Houses will give a power up, 1-Up Houses will give you 1-Ups, Blue Toad Houses will give you Yoshis and Gold Toad Houses will give you a Star. So there is a lot of ways to get Stars. Now there are 11 worlds in this project. And each of them are connected by a either a bridge or swimming to it. But easiest way to one world to another is using Warp Zone. They're located start of the world and you can use them to travel wherever you want. But that doesn't mean that you'll play any world in any order. You have maybe the oppotunity to go to the world, but you'll not able to play that world unless you have beaten the world before.

And then it's the playable characters. What is a SMBX episode without them. There is five playable characters. Mario, Luigi, Princesses Peach and Blue Toad. There is also a fifth one is a secret character that I'll not announce yet. The character is unlockable, so you'll need a certain amount of Stars. Each character got it own ability. Mario is an all-around character, Luigi jumps higher than any other character, Blue Toad is the strongest and the fastest and Peach can hover over gaps. I recommend her to newbeginners. And Blue Toad is recommended for speed runners. You'll actually able to switch to one to another from not only the World Map, but you'll able to do that when you're playing a level. Everytime you're halfway through a level the characters block will make an appearance there. And you'll able to switch them in the Warp Zone.

And power-ups isn't something new in a Mario game or SMBX episode. Of course Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, Ice Flowers, Tanooki Suits and Hammer Suits are once again back. But new power ups in this episode that haven't appear in a SMBX episode. Tanooki Leaf, Double Cherry and third one. The Tanooki Leaf turns you into a Tanooki version of yourself, but you'll not able to turn your statue form. The Double Cherry clones three other clones. You can later use those clones to find secret exit or Stars.

There's two features in this project. One is what I call Super Luigi: The Plumber on A Rush. It's a Luigi themed game that Luigi is the only playable character. It features linear level from this game and you have a 100 seconds to complete. Why? Because it's The Year of Luigi. And Luigi references will pop out in every single level. But the game has be beaten 100% before playing this. The second is a feature where you'll play levels that was supposed to be in the game. It playable from the start.

Worlds
As I said there are 11 worlds; 8 main worlds and 3 special worlds. There is nothing much to explain because I've done it. And as you can see each world is called after food. Kinda like in NSMBU and Kirby.

World 1: Mushroom Plains: 8/8 levels done
World 2: Drybake Desert: 8/10 levels done
World 3: Mint Seaside: 7/12 levels done
World 4: Jungle Jam: 5/13 levels done
World 5: Vanilla Snowfield: 4/11 levels done
World 6: Rock-Candy Heights: 11/16 levels done
World 7: Candy-Cotton Clouds: 0/11 levels done
World 8: Bowser's Road: 0/11 levels done
World A: Stardust Milkyway: 0/9 levels done
World B: Sweet Sweet Memories: 0/14 levels done
World C: Champion of The Quest: 0/10 levels done

Power Ups
There are plenty of power up in this episode. There are 5 returning one and 3 new one. The third secret will not be revealed yet.

Returning
Super Mushroom: The well-known mushroom doubles the heroes' size. Busting blocks will be a breeze after grabbing these.
Fire Flower: Burn down you enemies by tossing fireballs at them. This firey friend won't let ya down.
Ice Flower: What's more fun by freezing your enemies and then use them as platform? Hmmm lemme think. NOTHING!! :lol:
Hammer (Bros.) Suit: Looks like the Hammer Brothers isn't the only one who plays with hammer in this game. Show them what you got Hero!
Stone Tanooki Suit: The mysterious Stone Tanooki allows you to turn into a statue with letting you enemies know

New
Double Cherry: Use your brothers and sisters to find secrets. This baby makes 3 clones of you and let you have the control of an whole army. Exclusive to DLC Packs.
Tanooki Leaf: Whacking people is fun. But it's ten time more fun to do with a Tanooki Tail. The legendery Tanooki Leaf allows you float around and whack your enemies with your tail.

Items & objects
What's more important than items you can use to defeat your enemies. This episode will feature a bunch of new and old items. Your mid will be blown after seeing these items

New Items
Beam Block: Lights up dark areas.
Carryable ? Block: Pick it up and see what it contains. (Credits to reghrhre)
Coin Button: Moneytime baby! This thing make pipe shoot coins out of pipe.
Firey Friut: One of the hottest fruits ever. If you touch it you'll get hurt. Make your hungry friend Yoshi eat it.
Flame Baby Yoshi: And speaking of fire this guy spits out fireballs on his friends.
Generator Block: Hit once and items will pop out infinity.
Ghost Yoshi: This Yoshi only appears in ghost houses and eat only Boos or Erries.
Gravity Block: Grab it and toss it wherever you want. This block breaks the law of gravity.
Green Coin: Collect all 20 of them and earn an 1-Up.
Heavy Baby Yoshi: SIZE DOESN'T MATTER! Even the tinniest guy can be the heaviest on earth.
Hungry Baby Yoshi: The hungriest is always hungry for, you know...enemies.
Mystery Warp Box: A combination of a Warp Box and a Mystery Box. Transport you to another place, but before you have to do a Mystery Box Challenge
Orange Coin Button: Press it and it will replace the stars in the level with Orange Coins.
Purple Coin Button/Purple Coin: Collect the 5 Purple Coins and a locked Mystery will be opened.
Untitled item: Believe it is a combination of Gravity Block and Ice Block. You can toss it at enemies and it breaks the law of gravity.

Returning Items
Balloon Baby Yoshi: I think his name explains everything.
Bubble Baby Yoshi: Mario's long time friend is returning and helps our plumber to save the day.
Baseballs: Baseball is a sport in real-life, but this is a game. Let's use it as a weapon. :lol:
Cannon Box: No! It's not a Billy Gun. This bad boy let's ya shoot cannonballs at your enemies.
Mystery Box: You have 10 seconds to complete the challenges inside here. Do you think you'll master it?
Orange Coin: Collect all of the and you'll able to unlock a Warp Box.
Red Coin Buttton: Kinda like a Red Coin Ring, but you there is 5 coins instead for the usual 8.
Warp Box: Transport you to anther area.

Characters

These are character that will play a huge role on this episode. More characters will be announced in the future

Playable Characters

Mario: The hero of Mushroom Kingdom is back for another adventure. This plumber knows what his enemies weak spot is. Can't doubt on this pro platformer.

Luigi: He has been racing and golfing through these years with his brother. That's right! His name is Luigi. This guy takes center stage in this adventure with references everywhere.

Princesses Peach: "Princesses Peach is kidnapped". This is sentence you won't hear in this game. The princesses gets now off her throne and helps our plumbers.

Blue Toad: This Toad isn't inside his house and serve Mario items. No! Step inside his shoes and pace through the Mushroom Kingdom.

Supporting Cast & Enemies

Bowser: The evil King Koopa has something in his sleeve. But what is it? Hmmm.

Kamek: The leader of the Magikoopa is once again serving Bowser. With her (or his) magic scepter she'll (or he'll) poof away our heroes.

Bowser Jr.: Dear God, no. Bowser's evil son has now upgraded the airships. This Koopa has some tricks up to Mario and Co.

Koopalings: Bowser's seven evil brats is now main obstacles for the Heroes. "We just love being mean!"

Captain Toad: Captain Toad the fearless hunter of the Stars is now joining Heroes on the adventure.

Princesses Rosette: The guardian of the stars and cosmos will help our heroes through the adventure. Did she made choice by choosing these Heroes

Starbert: One of Princesse Rosette's helpers. Can he help our Heroes to save the day.

This is the team of this project I need many as possible. They will all be in the credits for helping me doing this project good as possible. You can either be a Level Desinger, Beta Tester, World Map Desinger or a Level Recorder. More jobs will be available later. Apperantaley I got 30 votes in 2 weeks which is a lot especially in 2 weeks, so I deicided to make a new poll when the results is obvious. Once again thanks to those who voted. I really helped me to make a decision. Unfortunately I kinda lost the results, which I'm really sorry about, but I do know which option that won and it was add more variety in the game. So um lately I've been thinking if I should turn this into a HUB episode or a World Map episode. Since this game will be like 3DW and 3DL with a mix of levels in each it would look weird to have a snow in the desert world. So this time I need you guys opinions! I'm not forcing you to post, but I'm
just asking to vote in the poll guys.
Not much. The poll will be up when the answers in obvious. If this is a World Map then Knux will be the World Map Designer. If this a HUB game I'll make the HUB.

Hard choice, but I'd say world map. The transitions between the worlds actually looked pretty nice in NSMBU, so I guess a similar thing can be done in SMBX, too, and still look nice. Besides, it'll be Knux' problem to make the world map look good, not yours. :P

The world 1 Mystery Box level doesn't work right. I can beat the first challenge, and the Mystery Box appears, but when I hit it, it does nothing, and I get trapped in the level and have to quit the game.

The demo was kinda rushed. I'll fix the errors and bugs soon possible.

Ya mean like a mirror tower? That has already been done, so I'd rather go with this gimmick instead.

How about a button that spawns Percy Persimmon from a pipe? He might come out of the pipe and drop 1UPs, Stars, secret stuff, keys to unlock secrets and even Cannon Boxes! Percy might also say, "Here, Boss! I dropped this for you!"

Ya mean like a mirror tower? That has already been done, so I'd rather go with this gimmick instead.
I mean that you still change the layers, but in the screenies it wasn't "correct", the whole level should be going right to left so it makes sense scientifically.
