Piranha Creepers, please!

Postby Lucario » Thu Dec 10, 2020 12:58 pm

You know, like the ones of Super Mario Maker 2! I'm new at here and I joined to request things and show levels I made with they! So, anyone can make one, please? Before anyone asks, nope, I don't know how to make .lua files, no matter HOW MANY TIMES I WATCH ENJL'S HOW TO MAKE A NPC PACK VIDEO :( - SMBX 2.0 Beta 5

Oof, the post was forgotten. Reposting in 3 days...

Piranha Creepers are fairly tricky to create due to the properties of their vine. It's not something someone experienced could just do in an afternoon. There are only a handful of people in this community who could reasonably pull it off at their current skill level, and I'm fairly certain all of them are preoccupied with other things at the moment.

If you don't need the bouncing/retracting behaviour, you can approximate their paths with mutant vines (IMO a more powerful level element overall) or snake blocks that spawn spikes.

Sorry Enjl, I thought that it would be fairly easy to make it just be a longer Piranha Plant that doesn't return to the pipe and by stomping on it, it would retract. Not being sarcastic, I'm really, really, REALLY sorry...

Piranha creepers have more in common with mutant vines/snake blocks, than normal piranha plants. A piranha creeper is more like a thorny mutant vine which has the ability to retract. The retraction is the hard part of creating a piranha creeper.

At this point your options are:
1) Enjl's suggestion
2) Use Super Mario Maker 2 instead
3) Make the piranha creeper yourself

I think the true testiment to how tricky Piranha Creepers can be is the fact that even in SMM2 their hitbox is janky and you will always take unfair hits from clipping the spike hitbox.

True, Sometimes in SMM2 land on their head and still die somehow because of janky hitboxes.

To the person how posted the topic: I don't know if any requests here have been actually done though. Maybe you could try to do it yourself. Try checking Enjl's tutorials, or the pge wiki. I honestly think that doing it yourself is actually kinda fun, and when you get it to work, even if it has issues, it makes you feel like you have accomplished something. Maybe you could start by doing something easier, or checking the script of other npcs, so you can at least learn something before you try this.
This is just my opinion.

Also, can we all agree that the muncher hitboxes are even jankier?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try, even though I don't understand a line in .lua coding! Still, I'll learn making it! Someone can even close this post, I'll make a Piranha Creeper and share with y'all!

(NPC request) Piranha Creeper

Postby TheGameyFireBro105 » Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:25 pm

A smaller request, but a request nonetheless. I currently don't have the desire or the knowledge to code them myself. I am also trying to make a 3D World themed level before Bowser's Fury releases. That's a small amount of time for a LunaLua Novice to code the "Say sike right now" plant boys.
