Why will removing misinformation have consequences?

They're already using their AI to take down everything they can related to disinfo and it's letting conspiracies stay up and taking down debunking videos. It hasn't slowed them down. They're now going to target disinfo saying that the vaccine "will kill people or cause infertility, or that microchips will be implanted in people who receive the vaccine." But it also says "The company also said it was limiting the spread of COVID-19 related misinformation on the site, including certain borderline videos about COVID-19 vaccines." The keyword there is borderline so if their AI is unsure or gets it wrong they'll take down videos anyway.

Now let's stop and think about people who have been disproportionately hit by the virus. Think about how fast the vaccine is being pushed through. Think about the history of vaccination with minority communities. Think about the effectiveness of vaccines depending on other conditions one would have.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Syphilis_Study

YouTube will take down videos debunking conspiracies, leave up the conspiracies, and now they're going to suppress videos about "borderline" videos about a rushed vaccine will cause harm? There's already hesitation about it due to the speed it has had, and there's scepticism already from people who theoretically need it the most. Just contemplate the effect of censoring people, especially black people, at this moment in history over this issue.

I don't trust an AI managed by twerps in Silicon Valley to censor the right videos and save the day. I would trust it to start riots.

YouTube has a really bad habit with their AI that is true.

Also from today on my region now has several zones where you have to wear the mask outside now.
Numbers are really higher, yesterday we have over thousand of new infections!

Thx to all who are being ignorant pricks at the cost of lives and such.

Would be wise to just do a Lockdown since we already hit over 14.000 in 7 days now but our Politician people don't want that to be realized smh.

No, instead kids have to go to school because apparently they cannot be infected or carry the virus and infect others so they don't even need to wear a mask now.

Yeah, who ever said that bs needs to do better research.. why do WE always have to get a Situation out of control, and then they do shit about it?

Honestly what made the first lockdown relatively bearable was the hope that it could somehow end sometime this year, so people put up faith in hope to have light at the end of the tunnel. Now there's no light, so everyone is tired of the situation, which directly leads to irresponsible behaviour.

So it appears Boris Johnson has finally listened to scientific advisors and there will be a new national lockdown for England, to be announced next week, in order to combat the second wave.

Figures in Germany continue exploding beyond 20,000 a day even though we're in some sort of "lockdown". I'm staying at home since and I have no idea when it's safe to go back.

I say THANK YOU to both idiots AND politicians in Germany, the 2nd wave should have been braced a lot better

Wales has cancelled GCSE and A-Level exams for 2021, citing the variance in how long learners are in school/college for means that a level playing field cannot be guaranteed. Teacher-managed assessments will replace exams. It isn't known if the rest of the UK will follow suit, or how the government will fuck it up this time.

We also had our annual exams cancelled this year, being replaced with teacher-managed assessments for grades 6 to 9.

There's also been "promising" news from the EU that negotiated a deal for millions of vaccination doses ... let's see if it'll help us ...

NGL but I really hope exams don't get cancelled in England. I feel that I could perform well on exams but if they're going to be basing our grades on teacher-managed assessments... well, i'm gonna be a bit screwed.

Saw this the other day: https://markets.businessinsider.com/new ... 1029798146

The pre-emptive articles saying it's not insider trading and others repeating Pfizer's announcement that hasn't been in a peer reviewed publication are interesting. It's something to pay attention to. Hopefully the vaccine is effective. It looks like the pandemic will be going hard through 2021 too so a 90% effective vaccine would help a lot.

90% effectiveness is not enough. It needs to be 100% effective. I honestly don't see COVID going away anytime soon, like, not even in the next few years. I'd guess that it will get to the point where new infections are incredibly rare but it will almost certainly never go away entirely.

Also... isn't the coronavirus supposed to be a virus? Because viruses can't be cured with vaccines

where did you get that from, both bacteria and viruses can be cured with vaccines (with only a few exceptions like HIV) and in fact the first vaccine was developed against smallpox

Yeah, this already applies for the common flu. It won't go away 100% but it will hopefully be controlled enough so it's not this bothersome anymore.

Also know what's not enough? That ridiculous "lockdown light" in Germany that helps literally nothing.
