Doubts about the danger to my computer when trying to install SMBX

When I downloaded the SMBX.exe file, Windows defender considers that this installation may damage my device. is it true or not? Thank you for answering me

That depends on where you downloaded the game from; was it from the official site, or from another source?

If it's the former, it's safe; it doesn't have any malicious code inside of it.

Yeah, it is safe. Must be a false positive on Windows Defender's part. Try adding it as an exception, if it lets you.

Yeah, it is safe. Must be a false positive on Windows Defender's part. Try adding it as an exception, if it lets you.

That popup happens with any software that's from an "unregistered" publisher. It just means that Microsoft hasn't verified the publisher, and since this is a fangame, there is nothing we can do about that.

SMBX2 is wrongfully labeled a virus regardless which mirror you download it from. You need to bypass that anyway.
