Wanna know what my current problem(s) with SMBX? Okay, I'll tell ya. ^^"
  • The fact of there being quite some short boss rush episodes, and less inspiring short episodes imo.
  • I think I might be the only SMBX member who tries something newly and completely different in the Graphics category of contributing, and yet, mostly people rather see the same style over and over again and/or recolors!
  • And finally, the lack of community-based events and video game tournaments, when will we have another one?

There, got that off my chest

I just looked at the Graphics subforum, I don't really get your point. Recolors are not unimportant anyway.

I agree with not liking them but I don't really see them as of now.

If by "new" you mean "palette of a 30 year old console" and by different you mean "themes that everyone else also does", then yes, surely.
With a lot of people trying to be creative in thier own ways by making graphics that try to emulate any kind of visual style or theme, it seems kind of mean or short-sighted of you to try and put yourself above them.

I can only speak for myself here, but I like to use vibrant graphics that make my levels pop, so you will find me using a lot of things that go well with SMW and YI styles but don't always fully resemble them. Your style is often quite muddy with low contrasts, so it doesn't fit well with how I want my levels to look, regardless of how unique it might be.

Same. I'm very annoyed about that

It's nothing against you or your characters/world of people or story line but for me I was born in 85 and I grew up on the first Mario game that was all about the levels. Maybe because I grew up on the original games that is why I like them the most. The levels for me are the best part of the game.

Now I love having an awesome big world map but beyond that I'm just into the levels. The other stuff does not interest me and to be honest the levels need to be less rompy in my opinion.

It's nothing personal. If you want a avengrrs type smbx word with heroes and a story line go ahead. Some may like that and you should do what is the most fun for you and not what everyone else wants. Sometimes that means having less people interested. You have to do you or you will suffer burn out.

For me however I will stick to the world map and levels. After all no episode is fun unless the levels are fun.

Wow, thanks for that Comment. I fully understand what you mean and also know that not everybody is into my concepts and art of storytelling or that my Episodes aren't the Happy and Colourful Mario World known, but instant show real Things like the life of the Tycesses under Crawford. Though my problem is that literally nobody cares for my project except at this Forum except for Cedur and my level Designer Kingbowser112 (Thanks to you two :)).

I feel like that every single Episode on this Forum gets more attention than I do and that doesn't really motivate at all to be honest.

I'd generally say that this community no longer has the manpower to consistently comment on all episodes and levels. You're not alone with this.

Also I just noticed Enjl's pastebin. It's really good.

I really understand though there're really a bunch of Projects I see regulary getting New Replies (Even the one where the Creator acted like a kid and took it down) while I haven't gotten a single one except the ones from you.

This is not just annoying, it also makes me fear that it will not get better when the Episode is done and seriously I don't see a point in doing it then. Boss Rush or Boss Videos in General are more popular on my Channel anyway, though I want to make Level based Episodes, but if only very few People play it
and don't even care to give any Feedback, then there's no point.

I saw the Number of Downloads for the first Demo and while some of them were most likely Guests, I hardly believe everyone where.

Boss rush episodes getting a lot of views on YouTube got me believing they were popular at first (which wasn't the case). I don't have anything against bosses but most of the boss rush episodes are basically reskins of already crafted SMBX bosses, in which I have no idea why they're continued to be made.

About the episodes or projects, it's sad considering the engines that they're being made are amazing (even 38A's level editor is quite good despite the physics being not very good). I been trying 2.0 recently and it really deserves its popularity, due to its variety and usage. But I don't see the point since all I see for example in Discord are people showcasing what they can do with the level editor and very little talk on everything else. I get that it's hard to get all of those issues solved at once but SMBX is possibly the best mario fangame engine we have so far, one that even beats Mario Maker 2 imo. So I just don't want everything to feel like a wasteland.

The reason that SMM2's community isn't a wasteland is because there are no episodes. So people work on shorter projects and interact more with one another, and doing any single thing is not a year-long commitment that they try to keep secret until trailers drop. It's a highly competitive environment of creativity because people release and revise levels all the time. Juuust saying.
