Decided to make the replacements for SMB2 USA grassland tiles look like "Square" honeycombs for my SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis style GFX pack:

Making some decent progress on my custom SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis overworld tileset so far:
The grassland tiles on the right replaces the SMB2 overworld tiles, in case y'all were wondering.

I'm not sure if the guy finished with these custom Mario sprites, as I think I haven't hear about his progress on these custom sprites for about 3 years.

I got a total of 5 frames finished so far. A couple for idle/walking animations and a second set for chasing/attacking. Im surprised I blazed through this pretty quickly even though I still have a hefty amount of frames I need to do. Im currently aiming at making more walking frames. I managed to make a sprite sheet to keep track on it.
This looks really cool. Is this planned as a Boss?
Im not entirely sure, Maybe it could it could function as a boss in the future. What comes to mind with ideas for it is that Im planning to make it it's own npc with luna lua and make him chase mario and attempt to eat him. Something like a land boss bass but far more resistant to damage. And he can break through brittle blocks. I haven't made a script for it though.
Shouldn't it have squished sprites (for if its stomped on by a mega-mushroom-using character)?
Added in 2 minutes 58 seconds:
Its kinda like a Pyro Guy

I haven’t touched the garagantuan rex graphics sheet for two weeks. But having it get squashed by a player that has a megamushroom sounds like a great idea. Overall I wanted this to be the own npc with Luna lua and make it pretty aggressive towards the player but I suck at scripting so it’s on hold for now.
The koopa is based off the pyro guy and I’m also playing to make other burning npcs in the future.

So ur gonna make a pyro guy, too? If so, make it smb2 styled, so it fits with the base game. if u want to u can make it YI style.

Gargantuan Rex: And when i say have it stomped, I mean have it get stomped like a normal rex (it gets faster, and needs to be stomped again). That way, it will have a way to be killed, and yet still be a threat, due to the limited mega-mushroom-time possibly running out. Obviously, when it's stomped, it wont be able to instakill eat you, because it's head would be crushed into it's neck.

Decided to add some more to my custom SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis overworld tiles that'll replace SMB2 overworld tiles, because I have more free time than I ever needed!

So I decided to make a 3rd SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis custom background for my mega drive GFX pack for SMBX!
FYI, yes, I borrowed the "Castle" shadow background from the crappy (NES) game, Action 52, to make this

Wow, it's like I'm the only guy in the SMBX community keeping this topic alive every week! But in all seriousness, I got not just 1 SEGA Mega Drive GFXs to show y'all, but TWO!
- Some SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis style basic enemies:
- The green castle/palace (Take your pick on what it is! ^^") Background I have been recently working on by adding more details:
Whatcha think so far guys?

I notice that you don't make use of all the mega drive colors in your palette. You have a lot of colors to choose from. I recommend looking up color theory and maybe applying it to your designs. I think it could really help you out.

One game I recommend looking at is Ristar. It may not be the best game, but it's got amazing visuals

Just added some pillars to this Green castle/palace (You guys decide what it is ) SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis Background! Not the best looking pillars, but I did borrow some of the pillar design from Sonic 1:
Now to brainstorm more ideas for this.

Okay, I'll take a look at either videos of or the game, Ristar, once I get the chance

Man, I was very productive with my WIP custom GFXs very lately! Also, I not only have one custom GFX to showcase to y'all, BUT two of them!
- My SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis custom Green castle/palace background, now without the goomba nor the koopa statues:
- A newly made 16-bit playable Mario sprites* made from a color palette I made with 3,375 colors (Using a max of 16 colors on each sprite) that I just started on:
What do y'all think so far? ^^"
*Once I'm finished, I'll upload them to the SMBX custom GFX asset library.

Wow, that palace background looks WAY better than it did in the first iteration. Those Mario sprites also look good. The black overalls make him look like how he did in the NES version of SMB3.

Thank you man, I'm improving slowly bit by bit with making custom GFXs using the mega drive color palette! ^^"

That my friend, is what I'm aiming for, since the 16-bit SMB3 Mario doesn't have black overalls, and I don't wanna do recoloring.
