I certainly enjoy the more natural colors. One thing I wonder about is the grey outline on the side of the rocky pillars, since it stands out from the black outlines. And yet, the trees and bushes with their green outlines didn't stand out for me.

He's doing that so it's easier to distinguish it as a background object or a sizeable base that's meant to be in the background.

I'm pretty sure a lot of BGOs do that, like PROX said it's to distinguish it. Otherwise people wouldn't know where to jump.
