people know I first supported this a lot but when I replayed it, it lost much of its prior fascination; the graphics are great for sure, but the gameplay is just too repetitive and the Dural bosses to the end were a huge pain, which is why it's no longer a favorite of mine

imho Sarasaland 2 isn't worth checking out. same issues as the first one although it's shorter, it's more flawed.

yeah lol it doesn't even come close to the prequel, instead it's more a pale imitation of Star Expedition

I've never played a custom episode, but I would say Super Mario Bros. 2D Universe X, although it is a 1.4.4 episode and not a 2.0 episode.

I never liked SMB2DUX. It was too short; gameplay was dull for me; and I didn't like Mario's costume at all.

Yes! I had so many memories of this one, most of them not being able beat world 1 boom boom, and I had the pleasure of beating this episode a few weeks ago.

Yes! I had so many memories of this one, most of them not being able beat world 1 boom boom, and I had the pleasure of beating this episode a few weeks ago.

I like the SMBX2 episode, Super Mario Bros. Retro.

It's a recreation of both the original Super Mario Bros. 1 on NES & the arcade version, VS. Super Mario Bros., in one! Even though I haven't played it yet due to real life shits

well you shouldn't state that you like something just because you've seen the cover concept and found it interesting ("don't judge a book by its cover"). I've been disappointed about a few episodes that made a shining first impression.

I've probably played less than 20, Idk if I've even beaten any of them (maybe some?)
So based on what I have played so far:

1. Mario Prime. I loved this due to the non-linearity, the music was absolutely amazing and it was a fun episode overall. Never finished it (I nearly have though), and is a bit difficult in some places, but this is honestly one of those episodes that stand out from the crowd. My rating: 9.2/10
2. Super Mario Star Expedition. Each level had a unique gimmick and the difficulty curve felt smooth. Never finished though (I probably should do this sometime). Visuals were spot on. My rating: 8.5/10
3. Mix World 2 - The Star Seeker. Such a brilliant episode! Only got to W2 (maybe one of the more difficult episodes in terms of early game) but I love what I've seen so far. Visuals and music choices were great throughout. My rating: 8/10
4. Super Mario Miracle. A really fun non-linear collectathon. Never finished 100% (I have a few worlds left), but it's honestly a really good episode! My rating: 7.4/10
5. Airship Attack. A really fun, more traditional episode. Was one of the first I played, and gave me an idea as to what was in-store for my future SMBXing. Later levels ramped up in difficulty, so I never managed to finish it. However, it's a pretty fun episode! My rating: 6.9/10

this one is perceived very controversially within the community, just as much as The Restoration, in this case mostly due to loud graphics, bugs (like disfunctional checkpoints you couldn't spawn from), lengthy hard levels, and due to more feeling like a level collection instead of an episode

Still, it's a decent creation. (I probably haven't gotten onto the actual hard levels then, and I haven't witnessed any checkpoint bugs etc. so far).

It was a rating based on the episodes I've played. I've enjoyed it so far, but maybe my opinion would change if i were to finish it.
