Super Mario Bros: Galaxy Of Darkness

Introduction

Hello, I have decided to work on a SMBX episode. I have decent experience with the editor and am ready to give this a go. So how does all this unfold? Here is the information.

Story

Bowser encounters a lost star that fell from space. This happened to be a darkness star if harnessed correctly, can allow you to enslave and create planets. Afterwards he and his assistants helped him harness it and enslaved Earth first. He steals the princess again and flew off to another planet placing his minions on each one. There are about 8 in Southern Galaxy which was the most he could enslave with just 1 darkness star.

Mario cannot reach Bowser in his space station without collecting the star guardian of each planet to help him destroy the dark matter force field surrounding it.

Every level will have 3 bonus stages. You are required to win each bonus in order to get the Star Coin. Collecting the 3 Star Coins each level will free one imprisoned star that will help in the battle to destroy the darkness star.

The first 2 screenshots look pretty bland.
I would recommend adding some scenery (Background Objects).

Still, you could add something like benches, street lamps or other things. A city doesn't just consist of buildings.

I agree with Ludwig, it looks like the detailed background tries to provide all the detail of the level. i would add some BGOs, but not too much as to appear too cluttered.

Again, some additional scenery would be nice.

In addition to scenery, you should also consider placing more coins in your levels.
They are not only a great way to guide the player through levels, they can also make them feel less empty.

It's always good to go back through a level on the editor and tick off things like coins, blocks, enemies and bgos.
It helps for me when I feel like I'm forgetting something.
