But to be honest, you should buy it. The nitro tracks are amazing and most of the retro tracks feel real fresh and appropriate. 150cc is also really fun and intense at times, especially in multiplayer.

Just got the game; I played (and won) the Mushroom and Shell Cups so far. It's a great entry in the Mario Kart series so far, and I'm sure the later cups will only be better.

I have played all cups in 150ccm now. The best nitro cup is the flower cup. The best retro cup is the thunder cup.

For the offline game, I would rate this game 8 out of 10. It's definitely a great game. It has not even one track that isn't good, each nitro track is amazing on its own way, and each retro cup is full of variation, and each retro track was splendidly improved using the new antigravity and/or water/flying concept. I have still two issues with the game, though. The first one is obviously the coin item (which 90% of the reviews confirm). It basically leaves you with no item, no protection or support which is an immense and unfair disadvantage in many situations. It also pops up way too frequently. It's just a pointless factor to annoy the player. Second, the battle mode. Is there any person on this planet that likes it? It certainly is the worst battle mode of the Mario Kart history, and that's not even controversial, it's fact.

Those issues of course influence the online score as well, but since the online part is absolutely perfect, I'll rate it 9 out of 10 (8 for the game itself, plus 10 for online). The online mode meets its purpose perfectly. The game rarely disconnects, shows a lot of innovation (the tournaments for instance), maintains the offline performance on 60FPS unlike MK Wii, has a fair score distribution, and is extremely fun as well.

Overall this makes a 8,5 out of 10, definitely my favorite Mario Kart game so far. It's also my second-favorite Wii U game so far, and probably in my top 10 favorite games of all times.
