The ring is a resprited axe. When killed, it triggers an event that plays a sound, shows the red coin layer, and hides it again after a delay. The coins are set to trigger an event when their layer is empty.

The story is really impressive, but that is probably because Mario games usually have little/no story.

Hey bossedit8 I really like this episode, by the way, I'm remastering your first episode "Newer Super Mario World". This remastered version will be English only, and it will have more custom music. Also, it will work only in 2.0 Beta 3 version. I'll show it in Episodes section soon.

What do you exactly intend to do in terms of "remastering"? If you're using any of bossedit8's content whatsoever in any kind of remake you need to ask him for permission first

Ah disappointing, I had a long delirious day and just saw update. Didn't waste time getting it yet anyway.
I still haven't finished it the final world is fairly difficult with bottomless pits and chase koopas.
