I discovered a weird thing in SMBX with LunaDLL. There's actually 8 more NPC's that we didn't knew about. It's NPC-293, NPC-294, NPC-295, ... , NPC-300. Normally, those NPC's are invisible, but you can make them visible by inserting a graphic. Of course it must be in "GIF" format.
By that I mean this:
Those NPC's are all the same. I mean they have same behaviours.
For example, they can be frozen, but if you'll unfreeze them, they won't move:
They can walk on lava(!):
They can't be defeated by Peach's Heart Bombs, Link's Lasers, Toad's Boomerangs, Mario's/Luigi's Hammers and Fireballs:
They can't be defeated by Rainbow Shells:
They can't walk on Switch Block's Outlines, but can walk on Switch Blocks:
Also, you can die/lose your power-up, if that NPC will touch Clown Car:
Note: you can't defeat those NPC's by a Clown Car.
If your buried Hammer Bro will throwing those NPC's, they still will be able to walk on the ground and they won't defeat each other:
Those NPC's can't be defeated by Veggies, Mushroom Blocks, Pot Piranha Plants, Bombs and even by Metal Pipes (Metal Pipes will just push those NPC's):
If NPC will stand on a hittable block, you won't be able to defeat it:
Those NPC's can't be defeated by SMB3 Ice Blocks and player's Ice Blocks:
Also, if you'll try to kick some NPC on those secret NPC's, kicked NPC will defeat itself:
You can't defeat those NPC's by a Boot, by Link's Shield, by jumping on them and by spin-jumping on them.
Those NPC's can also walk on platforms:
Also, those NPC's are very fast.
NPC's after 300, like NPC-301, NPC-368, NPC-3360 or NPC-368687 will crash your SMBX. You'll got this error:
There's also another secret NPC - it's NPC-0. Well, it actually doesn't do anything, it doesn't hurt you and you can't even see it.
Also, I didn't tested all those NPC's with a Notepad, maybe they have more behaviours. So yeah, that's it for today.

Wow, amazing discovery! Maybe it's a dummy NPC that Redigit made as a test.

Thanks DrLuigi. I forgot to write more behaviours like for shells and Yoshis. I'll test it tomorrow and I will write it here. Also I think that was the longest post in the forum!

METROIDS!!! We can use them to make Metroids! Valtteri, come quick!
Also:
they can be *frozen. "Freezed" isn't a word.

Only problem is that they can't fly. Because Ridley.

I found more behaviours:
Those NPC's can't be defeated by Koopa Shells:
Can't be defeated by a Statue, I even tried to "slide" into NPC, but it didn't defeated him:
NPC can be eaten by Yoshi and you will gather 100 points(!):
But it can't be defeated by Yoshi's Fireballs and Yoshi's Ice Cubes:
NPC can't be defeated by Racoon's/Tanooki's Tail, also.
NPC stops moving when the Time Clock/Green P-Switch activated:
NPC can't be defeated by friendly Bullet Bill Blaster:
It also can't be defeated by SMW Grinder:
NPC can stay on top of other NPC's (on which Mario can stand too):
NPC reacts with water and quicksand (it slows down a bit):
NPC can react with Conveyor Belt like every other normal NPC:
If you will freeze 2 NPC's and throw them to each other in their frozen form, they of course will defeat themselfs.
So, right now I must test those NPC's with notepad and I'll try to slide into it, maybe slide can defeat them.

Only problem is that they can't fly.
1) Place the new NPC (make sure "Don't Move" is set to "yes") on a block-like NPC (i.e., npc-45), then remove player collision from said block-like NPC.
2) Make sure the block-like NPC is on a layer, then attach a friendly invisible paratroopa to said layer.
3) Sprite-swap the new NPC with a Metroid.
Ta-da! You now have a flying Metroid that can only be killed by ice. Sure, it may still need a bit of work and testing, but it's a start.

...what?

You say that as if there IS an NPC that can be defeated by Thwomps (there isn't). You might be thinking of deadweight NPCs, such as 58 or 67.

I already said about NPC-67 that it just pushes that secret NPC on a side. Not sure about NPC-58.

I wasn't saying that you never tested the secret NPCs with deadweight NPCs, I was saying that Thwomps don't kill NPCs, and you might have misremembered such an occurrence by having seen deadweight NPCs kill other NPCs. Maybe you saw a deadweight NPC sprite-swapped to look like a Thwomp; I don't know. My point is that if the Thwomps DID kill the secret NPCs, it would be a first.

Yeah probably. Well thanks for the note, I just edited my post! Also, forgot to say, Purple Yoshi's ground pound can't defeat that secret NPC too.

Does the dead frozen NPCs have an effect? (Maybe try putting in an effect after the last known effect?)
Also could you please try more BGOs, background, and blocks past the known ones?
It seems like a coincidence that there are 300 NPCs. Maybe when he picked up the 1.2.2 code to add more NPCs, Redigit newly defined 300 npc behaviors, and he just never used the last 8.

Can't understand what you mean, sorry.
FanofSMBX wrote:Does the dead frozen NPCs have an effect?
I don't think so. When that NPC is defeated it creates "Yoshi's Stomp" or "Spin Jump's Stomp" sound.
FanofSMBX wrote:Also could you please try more BGOs, background, and blocks past the known ones?
Well I don't know how to do that. I tried to find more NPC's with LunaDLL, but I'm not sure how to do that with blocks, BG's and BGO.
Sorry if somebody didn't understand what I said (bad english).

He mean if the attach to layer works on those NPCs.

Chad wrote:If you put stars in bubbles, you can trick the star counter in hub games. You could have, say, 2 normal stars and one star in a bubble, and getting all three will make the star counter read as 3/2. It might be a little mean if unindicated, but if you give players a hint that there might be additional secrets, it could be a fun concept to work with. It could convey a feeling of going beyond 100%, sort of.
Would putting a dummy star in an unused section make it read 3/3?
Edit: oops this is in the same thread

Just delete this second post, FanofSMU.
---
I pretty much tested almost everything and can say now:
litchh wrote:Can these NPCs be attached to other like conveyor belts?
Yes, those NPC's are working with everything (like Death event and Attach to Layer too, etc.).
FanofSMBU wrote:What happens if Lakitu throws them?
Lakitu will throw them like he throws other enemies, but the NPC won't be able to move (I don't really know why).
Found some other things:
If your Pink Yoshi will eat those NPC's, he will spit out veggies, of course:
If that NPC is buried, it won't defeat itself if Mario will kick it on another same NPC. It also won't move (? (must test it))
Forgot to say, destroyed Frozen NPC will give you 100 points too:
If you will select the NPC from the time, when you playing the level, you'll see this error:
Element '294' because I tested this with NPC-294.
If Bubble, in which the NPC, is popped, NPC will fall down and won't move (?(must test it).
If the Egg, in which the NPC, is destroyed, NPC won't move.
Also, if you will set the NPC though "Advanced" tab to something, it still will act the same as it acted before.
So, the only thing to do, is to test those NPC's with Notepad and some other things, which are stated above.
