MBX needs some kind of security system so individual users can like lock their levels from being edited or used for anything other than for game play but I don't see how that is possible giving smbx is limited in what it can do.

So take the worst feature in 1.4 and put it into SMBX2? Maybe we will like it better! Nope, we still hate it.

Good point. That would just cause a whole new set of problems and would probably not stop him from plagiarizing/stealing others levels.

The OP explains everything pretty well. A user on youtube, superbird111, has been making sequels of knux's episode series, The Great Empire. The problem is, he has no permission to do so.

I don't see the problem either. Lunar magic has the same feature, and it allows creators to prevent use of their graphics (if they made any for their hack) or prevent someone from changing levels in the hack. But still, it won't prevent anyone from making unofficial sequels...

The problem is that people might want to see how did you do certain things in your levels and learn from them , they might want to use assets from your levels or just customize for purposes such as putting more power ups in the level so its easier to play or edit stuff out for fun but this is only the good side of having this feature removed.

I mean I feel like Nintendo doesn't want anyone using their graphics, and yet here we are on a forum where a major portion is sharing their assets. It's odd how people value their own derivative creations more than a company's original ones, don't you think?

That actually kinda puts this whole thing in a new light for me, where it seems kinda okay to make a sequel to someone else's episode. Don't get me wrong, Superbird still should be crediting Knux for the originals, so this isn't really okay (not to mention his level design is very much quantity over quality), but it's interesting to think about.

I thought about this, too. Technically speaking, I just made a bunch of SMBX episodes and titled them as The Great Empire series. My main issue from this is really to do with the confusion to players. People often can't figure out who made what. Superbird (seemingly unaware on how numbers work) decided to make his own TGE3, so there's two completely different episodes with the same name. I like to think that my episodes, despite the mixed reception on 2, are to a decent standard. Some of Superbird's episodes are, well, you've seen them. To be associated with that is a bit of an annoyance, but more annoying is that this is just a 'cash-in' on the name of a well-known name.

With that being said though, I find this whole thing more interesting rather than a problem. Superbird has never responded to anything I've said and is undeniably one of the most prolific level designers this community has ever seen. I happen to think that his level design has improved over the last few episodes. He also seems to have built himself a cult following, which is impressive considering no other SMBX episode or series has achieved this before afaik.

I don't see how. Superbird and his friends are ignoring reality, so they're the only ones who would even care if you ignored their reality. Let them live in their bubble and only correct commenters and players who have been misinformed by Superbird and who have an open ear.

Yes,but Knux is the original creator,so why should he rename his episode and not Superbird?

Can someone please tell me why the hell we're wasting 11 pages, mostly filled with arguments, about someone making an episode without someone's permission?! Just ban the person, or warn them, not keep a very obvious flame-worthy thread alive.
