I actually spent a fair amount of time as a kid looking for the perfect "Mario Level Maker". I played various online ones, like Super Mario Flash.
Probably the best one i had before SMBX though was Super Mario Bros. Level Master. Had alot of fun with it, but basically stopped using it once i found SMBX. lol

Also, does the Stage Builder mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl count as a level editor?

I used SM63 as well. Honestly though, none of them really compare to SMBX... just the sheer versatility of SMBX speaks for itself

Super Mario Flash. I found SMBX pretty much instantly when I started looking for Mario level editors.
My friend got me into Lunar Magic for a while but then I realized how much more difficult and less customizable it is.

I really loved Super Mario Flash and Super Mario 63. I used to make a ton of badly-designed levels back then. It's quite amusing now that I think of it.

Yeah, I can understand that. I remember my friend trying to do the same thing with me when i was around 10, and I found Lunar Magic way too complicated.

More than "found", in my case I'd say "started to make something serious with it".
I used SMF1 and Mario Worker.

Super Mario Flash and Mario Builder. Pretty hard to remember to be honest.
