So I downloaded SMBX2 today, and the PGE level editor works just fine (minus the lack of spin-jump but eh). However, when I go to start up an episode and press the button, it sends me to the SMBX 1.3 Launcher. All of the SMBX2 episodes that came with the download are there, but run on SMBX 1.3. For reference, I am using a Windows XP emulator on Sierra OS X. Any idea what is wrong?

LunaLua doesn't work on WinXP without some extra effort.

First, if you want the PGE editor's testing features to be improved don't use "Alpha Tester" It runs on the PGE engine which is unfinished and not very stable. Instead, use "LunaTester" which has all the normal SMBX functions plus Lua support. And second, The launcher is not the same. 2.0 Has a completely new launcher that looks a lot more modern than the old one.
plus WinXP is severely outdated and this is the probable cause of this problem.

If it's doing this because of Windows XP, then why does the SMBX2 folder have SMBX 1.3 in it? And when I delete that 1.3 file and start up the game, the SMBX 1.3 Launcher doesn't show up after I press Play Episode, in fact, nothing shows up.

SMBX2 is built using 1.3 as a base. If you delete SMBX 1.3 then you're deleting part of what SMBX2 requires to run

Ah, I see. So is there no actual way to run SMBX2 on Windows XP? At least, minus PGE.

There is, but you need a special patch to do it.

Darn. I don't suppose I can gain access to this patch? Or is it private/too complicated.

Well I use Windows 7 and have the same problem. I push "Play Episode" and nothing shows up, it creates the process in task manager though.
