The method he used works just fine, and it's been used many times before, so I really don't see why he should be using a file hosting service instead of just uploading the image directly.

Looks good but you've mixed two perspectives. The feet make him look like he's facing forward but the rest of him looks like he's sideways. Might be worth just changing the feet. Take a look at how the default friendly NPCs like Luigi do it
