The host isn't obliged to ping you. Like everyone else you can either subscribe to the whole forum or just keep an eye out

Danny has been a really valuable member of the game master team and a great mafia player. Even before I joined he was already kicking ass in this game. Even though I didnt always agree with him I did really respect the guy. Thanks for everything you've done!

He may still want to host and play mafia, just no longer be a moderator in the Mafia forum.

Well, goodbye Danny, though I didn't always agree with you, you were still a good addition to the GM team and mafia in general. You will be missed.
