Boom Boom Evolution (Progress Update--5/18/18!)

Welcome to my newest project. This episode will attempt to bring a new light to infamous SMBX boss rushes by creating memorable, unique, and gimmicky boss battles. The catch? The only boss in the entire episode is Boom Boom. This episode makes sole use of SMB3 graphics.

General Info
  • Will feature 16 different bossfights spread across four hubs (Blue Spire, Green Fortress, The Airships, and Red Castle), including a world map to move between hubs
  • Makes heavy use of LunaLua
  • One fun "special item" collectable in each set of levels from the fourth and final level of each hub
  • Playable as Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach
  • Special HUD and boss HP bars (neither shown yet)
  • Challenge modes
Progress and Outlook
  • Levels Completed: 8/16
  • Hubs Completed: 4/4
  • World Map Completed: Yes
Next Demo Coming: Late March 2018
Full Release Date: Late May 2018

Overall Completion (estimate): ~70%

You'll receive early access to the completed episode after all of the levels are completed and can help tweak it to perfection. Also for anyone who has ideas for gimmicks or concepts of bossfights please make a post so you can bounce it off of me!

Yay, Boom-Boom finally gets the attention he deserves! I've always had quite a few questions about him, like what species Boom-Boom is (Obviously a koopa, but I meant the types of koopas like the paratroopa and dragon koopas.) and where he's from.

The mystery behind Boom Boom will definitely get an explanation. Don't worry.

One of the more fun things about this episode is that the last of every set of five levels has a unique and funny collectable. In the first hub the fifth level revolves around the concept of Boom Boom's minions. Cast your answer an the poll as to what you think should the special collectable of this level with the "minions" concept be

boom booms are gonna take over the world. this is no joke. we need to stop them, or else our beautiful, and totally not toxic community will be over run by them. each donation murders one boom boom.

The player blocks (for Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad) are in SMBX2-Beta3, although some of them are part of the costumes

I thought this was going to use your playable Boom Boom but sure! Also, how about one where Boom Boom shoots his spikes when he hides in his shell?

Which one, playable Boom Boom or Shooting spikes (or both)?
Like maybe you could have a playable Boom Boom as an Unlockable (although that does not look achievable right now)

Both are definitely achievable but the shooting spikes is what I was referring to. Not too sure if I will use the playable Boom Boom here just because of the concept, but in the end? Who knows...
