Yet people use the truncated mean all the time for judging, especially in sports. Someone even suggested it for maglx3 if they had enough judges.

This doesn't mean that the judges' reviews shouldn't be mentioned if they hit the high or low barrier, but just that their score would not be used in the final mean. If six judges score a level 70-80, and one scores the level 30, then all this does is avoid a score of 69 instead of 75. The end goal isn't to get rid of their opinion, but to avoid it from negatively effecting placement if it's too much of an outlier.
In other words, it prevents the Quill Factor
What on earth is that?

who'd want to change a score of 69 smh

This is an interesting idea that would be cool to see used imo.

Since we have a lot of judges this contest, why not use something like the truncated mean? Since some peeps might still think people can be biased or have bad tastes in general, this system actively removes outlier scores so that they won't affect the placement of the level, while still keeping the scores from most of the judges.
We won't forcibly remove every outlier scores that happens, but judges can and will discuss scores & levels to try to keep outlier scores to a minimum. That's the best response I can give you for that suggestion.

Alright, that sounds fair enough. Good luck with the contest!

I'll just submit one of my old unseen levels if that counts.

No, you are allowed to submit a WIP that you haven't published before.

As long as you haven't submitted a playable version of the level to the public then you're not at risk of being disqualified

And this is what you get when you lack inspiration to complete a level you planned out for a good few hours, well done me, welp, I don't think mine is being submitted to this contest, maybe whenever the next one is. I don't know.

So, 11 days left now. Haven't found time to work on anything, let alone settle on an idea. It's tempting to take one of my old levels and fix it up or something, but I wanted to start from scratch. (I haven't shared even one level I've worked on so it's not like anyone would even know)

I may get my level out just before the timeline because I need time to think about design.
