SMBX won't launch

Postby BobtheBlob » Tue Jul 11, 2017 2:54 pm

First time using SMBX (just downloaded) and I extracted the ZIP with 7ZIP.
I open the little mushroom file that says smbx and it opens a window with some text and images and at the bottom, I can choose Start Game or Open Editor.
I have tried both neither do anything it opens a loading screen/window which just is frozen I can't even close it without task manager.

Help please!
I have a screenshot:

EDIT:
One more thing! The loading coin doesn't rotate (again the window is frozen) but if I take the mushroom app thing that you double click out of the folder with the other
files, it will run but will be blank because it cannot find the files. :(

well, i haven't had this problem happen to me before, but maybe i can help. right click the mushroom (the smbx file) then press properties, then press compatibility in the new window, press Run Compatibility troubleshooter, then press try recommended settings, if that doesnt work, search for smbx 2.0 beta 3

and you will need to test the settings

@chocolateman201

I tried the compatibilty troubleshoot and it didn't work but installing the older version did work. What is new that I miss out on?

By "older version"... do you mean SMBX2 Beta 3?

That's not older. That's newer. From the screenshot above it looks like you were originally trying to run SMBX 1.3, which is in fact the older version. SMBX2 beta 3 is the most recent public version.
