"Khiana picked up some documents regarding Fleetpoint, did she not? Who's to say that's not what the sage was referring to. You know, the things he said kind of worry me... that stuff about becoming one of them, whoever they are. It makes me want to get out of here as fast as possible." Vardo closed his eyes and thought for a bit.
"Either way, splitting up seems like a bad idea. Who knows, we might even be in danger if we leave. I suppose staying together down here may not be the worst idea there is... Although I'd rather be anywhere else right now."
Vardo decides to aid in the investigation of the desk, hoping to find something of interest.

Khiana was observing everyone else rummaging through his notes. She investigates herself, what's around the room, magical items, notes, what knowledge has he gained over his life?

Robin sighs. "It's not like threat is outside. I'm willing to bet it's right in here." He says, looking back up the ladder for a moment. "But fine. If we get killed, I get to say 'I told you so' in the afterlife." He grumbles, stepping forward again. And with that statement made, he starts investigating the notes himself, but at the same time he's ready to make an escape with as many of the notes as he can carry.

You find various notes and research papers on various arcane subjects and spellcraft, yet nothing that would come across as a secret to you. Intrigued by the subjects of the papers, you decide to stuff them into your bag.

You find old tomes that tell made-up stories about a hero in green clothes that travels through time to defeat an evil to restore balance to the world, which you certainly find interesting, but it's not anything that would be useful to you.

Comparing your search results to that of the notes on the "Fleetpoint Uprising" the you have already acquired, you find several more papers and tomes in regards to common cult behaviors, cultist activity in Selvera, and the worship of demons. Some of these have sections circled and notes scrawled in them, such as "seen in Fleetpoint" or "commonly practiced in Fleetpoint". Among other things, looking through a book that archives ancient demons who bring promises of protection, several have been marked in the book with "Fleetpoint's worship?".

By time the search has concluded, the old man has passed away, and his skin is rather dark and sweaty.

"What a way to go," Khiana said somberly, "died from a mysterious disease in front of a bunch of strangers who intruded on his home." She walked over and closed his eyes.

"On another note (haha get it) I found some notes and research that points cult behaviors in Selvera to demonic worship, largely around Fleetpoint." She handed the notes around to everyone. She was wary of how well this information would sit with the group, particularly Hilda. With the fear rollercoaster she was secretly on right now, a part of her was bummed she never found some notes on alchemy.

"Well, if that's the case, now we have a few options." Robin muses, once again looking back up the ladder. "It all comes down to whether or not we want to stroll on over to Fleetpoint in the dead of the night, really. If we don't, we'd have to pack it up for the night, and more importantly have a good place to do so." He explains as though there's barely any problem at all, idly messing with his hair.

"I'm fairly sure Lady Mila would be a bit peeved with me if I just let some casual demonic worship be going around, but if you all want to wait the night out first I wouldn't be opposed." He shrugs, taking a glance at the old man. "I don't really want to stay in here even if we're not moving, though. Rubs me the wrong way."

"Demon worship?" Hilda shuddered. "That explains why the townsfolk were so wary of speaking with us, most likely. If their whole town has been corrupted by that... we must do something, immediately. And if demon worship has anything to do with what happened to this man, we should get out of here as soon as possible. Let's gather what information we can and bring it to somewhere safe. If you're with me, we will return to Fleetpoint and tear into the heart of these evil cultists. This cannot be tolerated."

Hilda gathers what papers she can as well as the leather map, stuffing them into her backpack.

"They will not know that we know anything. The town should be safe to stay in for the night, at least. We'll need to get our strength up for the oncoming battles."

"The town may be safe but not forever. This place is fine on its own for a while." Khiana could stay here for days and read up on the Sage's accumulated knowledge and notes. Being someone who used to coop herself up in the library, she enjoyed places like this. "This sage has so much knowledge, likely about the surrounding areas or even the whole Selvera. I think it's wise we stayed here and educated ourselves before we went out into this nation blindly."

"I don't know... this place is giving me a really bad feeling and I really don't wanna stay down here any longer than necessary." Additionally, Vardo is not a fan of staying in one place for too long. "We can stay for the night, alright, but I'd want to leave as soon as the sun rises."

"The sage said that the Blood Coast is not safe, and that those wards were meant to keep out something very dangerous. I doubt it's safe to stay here for long," Hilda says worriedly.

"Perhaps we can come back after stopping the demon worship?" Robin suggests. He doesn't wait for an answer though, instead opting to leave now and climbing up the ladder. "Come along!" He calls.

Upon climbing up the ladder, you can hear the wind howling outside of the shack. Taking in a breath of what you would hope to be sea air, you instead smell the strong odor of brine, rotting seaweed, and the putrid stench of dead fish. This assault on your senses leaves you temporarily dazed and revolting, and peering out of the open door of the shack, you can see the glistening of a dozen beady, black dots cast against the moonlight.

Robin splutters upon the assault. "By Mila, what is this?!" He cries, moving his head back into the shack and pinching his nose. "I don't like it out there, gang!" He calls back down. "I don't like it out there at all!"

"What's going on?" Hilda calls up to him, but she's already headed up the ladder. At the top, she peers out into the darkness and attempts to detect any celestials, fiends, or undead to be found outside the shack.
