Hey there, I'd like to apply for forum staff. I'll make sure nobody will spam or shitpost.

Not gonna happen, I wouldn't want to be banned for my username being too short.

Since when did anyone suggest that there should be a minimum length for a username?

To be real honest, I think we're fine in terms of username length, not much of a reason to change how long or short it can be

I think a good addition to the forums would be the ability to change your name at will instead of having to PM an admin, which can take quite some time if they're not online.

As far as I know, I think they did that quite early on in the forum's life, but it got removed because it's got so much potential to be abused with people changing their names way too frequently.

How about making it so you have to wait for some time (Like a week or so) after changing your name before you can change it again?

I mean, we usually only allow name changes once every several months. If people change their name on a weekly basis, then I guarantee you there will be nothing but confusion.

In short, I'm afraid we're not going to do this.

In my honest opinion, I don't really think the GIF thread in Sandbox should be open, as I feel nonsensical stuff like that is better suited for the Discord chat, and it's also breaking the forum rules by being an image thread.

No, because that thread is centered around something something that can spark discussion (Comments on level design, graphics etc.) while the GIF thread is just plain shitposting that doesn't promote any discussion whatsoever.

What exactly do you mean by that? I'm in no way saying that you shouldn't try to have fun on here, I'm just saying that that kind of thread isn't allowed by the forum rules, and as such, shouldn't be here. I did say that you could do a thing like that in the Discord chat though.

You seriously need to lighten up a little bit. One thread that's full of images just for fun isn't hurting anybody.

Now, Snessy, why are you so salty about some image shitposting? People are just having fun and I don't think the forums should be that serious and harsh. Yes, being harsh and serious is important, but I don't think you can exaggerate on this, or else people will eventually get bored and leave. I would understand if that was offending or hurting people, but as JupiHornet said above, a little thread full of images doesn't hurt anybody.

I might have mentioned otherwise in some of my comments, but that wasn't my intention. I would respect it some more if image threads were actually allowed by the forum rules, or if there was an exception for that thread specifically in the rules.

Yeah, but is it hurting anyone? As was mentioned earlier, if the entire place was serious and that and joking wasn't allowed, nobody would want to remain here. Everyone needs to have some fun, and that's the point of the GIF thread. Also, the same thread could be the reason why image threads aren't allowed. Also, it's just a single thread in a forum, why do you need to be so het up about it?

What you're missing is that there's no issue to be fixed here - you're making one up for some reason.

That's not necessary. The fact that the thread was created by a staff member and explicitly approved by Joey implies on its own that its existence is an exception to the forum rules. It's OK to have one or two shitposting threads and have fun once in a while - you're too caught up in the exact letter of the rules. Lighten up, please...
