BRING BACK THE OLD YOUTUBE OMG

Here's mine: https://www.youtube.com/user/spritecoll It's nothing much so I wouldn't bother subscribing really. And I don't upload much considering I can't really record much without my comp lagging.

Mine's RvBNut91, but I haven't uploaded anything in ages because I haven't done much since SMSE (which isn't even on my channel because other people played through it and it'd feel redundant). Although I might upload my contest level soon now that that's done, and I have 6 levels in NGCA that I plan on showcasing when that's finished.

My favorite YouTubers are TheRunawayGuys, Lucahjin, raocow, and Yuriofwind (who always reminds me of Wraith because they have similar voices).

I use this name or some variation thereof on YouTube. I haven't really made any videos of significance other than a let's play of a SMW romhack once (unfinished, should finish at some point).

YouTube & #ProudToPlay/#BanBossy

Postby aero » Tue Jun 03, 2014 4:06 pm

So what's the deal here? YouTube and Google are supporting the #ProudToPlay hashtag encouraging equality in sports. What I don't understand is what is up with all the social justice. You may remember earlier this year that Google (and not YouTube as far as I'm aware) had a link to the #BanBossy movement on their home page. Now this may all sound great that big corporations are helping in the fight for equality, however I think saying that would be naive. Let's take #ProudToPlay as an example. The video highlights various gay athletes in sports, however I truly don't see what the point is. If the point is to treat others like human beings, then why focus on gay people? There's a lot more than just discrimination against sexual orientation in sports, so it just seems more divisive to focus on LGBT issues.
Another point I'd like to make is the question of how much of this is for YouTube and Google's profit? As you probably know politically incorrect opinions don't really bring in money, so wouldn't Google naturally appeal to the LGBT community, and feminists for #BanBossy? I don't have a basis for this claim, this is just me being skeptical but I think it should be considered.

Now personally, I don't buy into much of what the social justice movement has to offer. All I believe is that you should not respect/disrespect people for who they are but rather what they do and nothing more. I mean sure it's good that the LGBT community finally has a say, but focusing on differences will only make people more divided. There's more divisive movements out there such as the White Privilege movement, Various racial pride groups, etc. but nobody is sticking up for true egalitarianism nor able to address anything negative without being called "homophobic." I hope we can one day truly debate these issues without talking past each other, banning words, and truly understand the other sides issue. Let me know what you guys think, I'd like to have a second opinion on this.

Here's the videos:

Well, first of all I think it's great that Youtube is doing something like that. I don't know to which extend it will actually make things better, but at least they do anything at all.

The thibg with the gay people is that being gay had (and still has) this stigma attached to it, that gay people are different and weird and unnormal, the video focuses on gay people to show that they are no different than anyone else.

Personally I think that, if they do something like this, they should not only focus on the gay people, but also on the other aspects of LGBT+.
As far as I could tell there were one, maybe two transgendered people in the video, and I think the Trans community is getting a bit overshadowed by the gay community. I know many people who have no problem with someone being gay, but get freaked out or make fun of Transgender people.
GhostHawk wrote:but focusing on differences will only make people more divided

Edit: As for the #BanBossy thing, I think it's good to encourage girls to stand up for themselves, but trying to ban words is kind of ridiculous.

I know I'm contradicitng myself a bit now, but I think the thing is that we actually need to focus on the fact that there ARE differences, and celebrate these differences. There has been some sort of "reverse racism" against white people and straight-hating and stuff like that, and of course we need to focus on these problems too, but I think the general opinion is, that the "privileged" people had it good long enough and that it's time for the minorities to shine now. It doesn't mean that these problems aren't important, but they haven't reached a level, where they are really serious yet. I mean, you don't really hear about people being killed because they are white and straight, do you?

Of course that's true, but there is still a certain degree of respect that every human deserves, and that is the "respect" they want to achieve. It's not that they want to say "Oh, I'm gay, I need to be celebrated", they just want to live without being discriminated in the first place.

There's no such thing as reverse racism, it's just racism. Otherwise there would be the implication that racism is exclusively a white position, which as shown through out history, is not the case. People actually are killed for being white whether it be from retaliation to the Trayvon Martin case in the United States or around the world where whites are the minority. Now for heterosexuality it's at a point where it's mostly fringe tumblrettes that are talking about their death.

This can be seen here:

In case you're dismissive, the white privilege movement also took root on tumblr and now it's a part of public education: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ8Nr3_2724

So how would demanding acceptance eliminate this stigma? You can't force people to accept anything, and trying to is likely to cause further rejection. If the focus were to be on why people come to their conclusion on the LGBT community, it would be irrelevant to go as far as having a support group for every deviation from the cultural norm.

Doesn't everyone not want to be discriminated against? Again, this isn't unique to the LGBT, as many people face this problem. Instead of treating different people different ways, it would be much more fair to treat everyone with the respect they earn as individuals.

Youtube Gameplays (Let's Plays)

Postby Keddy » Sun Sep 07, 2014 2:33 am

So if you watch gameplay on YT (let's plays) you'll notice it's got some with or without commentary. I personally enjoy the Let's Play with commentary it adds extra entertainment as the voice in the gameplay gives us an explanation of what going on, opinions of whats going on, or just talking random funny stuff. Either way with voice is better imo.
