Same for me. I mean, I haven't even started my level for this contest yet.

I'm still making 5 levels by myself. It's been a few weeks since I created all of them, and I've been changing a bunch of level mechanics too. I'm nowhere near finished with any of them, and three hours just seems like enough time to make a sloppily made level. These people also have other things going on in their lives, and it'll take a while before they completely finish their levels, which is why these deadlines are really long.

...huh?
A good level takes at least a few days. Maybe you could do it in one day if you work nonstop. But some people spend weeks, even months on just one level.

My MAGL X and X2 entries were made in less than 3 hours, and they both scored pretty well in relation to the time invested. It's absolutely possible to make a decent enough level in 3 hours... though I wouldn't quite recommend it.

Hmm I might be thinking too simple then. So far I have made 3 levels in total ever and each of them took 2 hours for placing down the level and then 1 hour for placing bgos and polishing. Talking about normal official Nintendo-sized levels.
But yeah good luck all.

I am very well aware of them, I have known them since 2009 (dont hit me). But, the level could introduce gimmicks in a Nintendo style

But still, don't expect to win a contest with a 1-1 Clone

There's a difference between making a 1-1 clone and making a level that's designed using the same design philosophy nintendo uses.
The former is a shallow look and clone of a level that had a LOT of thought put into it but has been redone more often than I can count.
The latter will give you a really well-designed level.

No, I meant like will nintendos style of introducing stuff, like how they do it with new gimmicks, they start of easy that you cannot fail, then add an element of danger, add something else so you have to time, etc, etc.

So like the 4-step design philosophy. I do think that would actually be the best way to make levels with new gimmicks IMO.

If you have 4-step-design mastered you're able to reliably make fun and good levels haha. Keep in mind to take a critical look at your own work and have other people test it for you! Developer bias is a big danger when trying to create fun experiences and fiddling with details.

I fall victim to this, that's why I sometimes get Olympus to test them for me X)

Yeah, nothing's stopping you. The deadline isn't until the middle of next month anyway.

I have decided that I will start my level today. I'm gonna win in every category by such a landslide that the next round won't even be necessary.
