I made this for my levels but i thought it'd be nice to share it with other users.
These are really simple ocean backgrounds with an island on it, it replaces the SMB3 blocks BG (and smb3 cloud BG if required)
Update 1: Added slightly darker version, night time version and dusk version!
Update 1!

It's nothing too special, but it's simple enough to not distract any player's gameplay. I like the shading too.

Thank you.
And you're right, sometimes the backgrounds can be confusing and mix with the blocks/tiles, i always try to avoid that when making levels.

hmm... why not do the same effect you did to the top of the water?

At the top of the water i used a gradient to make it look smooth, like if the ocean dissappeared in the distance. In the other hand, the sudden 'fuzzy' (?) effect on the bottom is to warn the player that danger lurks below the water (as the BG can't be swimmed on unless you put some water tiles on it, but this was intended for island/tropical themed levels, so you have to walk in land and swim in water background objects)

This is pretty good, I like the shading, You did a pretty good job. This would be perfect for a Ocean-like level, Good job, so far. I'm pretty sure I'll use this for a level of mine.

I like it; it's not distracting at all and looks pretty.

It's okay - suitable for a level with simple graphics. Though I think the water is too bright.

Im thinking of making a darker version, since it looks like shallow water, ill make many recolors of this one to suit more themes (Night, Dusk, Acid ocean, etc.)
Thanks to everyone for the feedback, ill also upload some blocks soon too ^^

I like the two first ones.
But the third one needs a change for the water's color. Looks kinda bizzare.
I forgot to say how useful this might be.

And maybe have the sun setting behind the hill, although I'm not quite sure whether or not it would look weird with bg wrapping. Maybe add a few clouds or something, because while it looks really good, it does look a little plain. The daytime ones are OK, but I think the sunset one could do with some clouds. Also, I think some stars on the nighttime one would make it look more like night and less like just a darkened version of the daytime one.

The last one inside the spoiler looks good for a fog themed level.
