A Couple Questions

Postby TheTrueBrawler » Wed Feb 01, 2017 6:47 pm

So the way my level set is gonna be designed, I want the player to not be able to carry power ups over from level to level. One level in particular is impossible without being small. Also some power ups will make other levels too easy. Is there a way I can automatically remove power ups from the player when they finish a world?

Also if this is not possible, does F.L.U.D.D. carry over? That would break everything I have designed.

It is probably possible with Lua. But there are other methods.

LunaLua. An extention module. Only works in 1.3.0.2 and 2.0 though. But you can do a lot of shit with this program.

Maybe 38A's Teascript can help him with this then.

Downloading 1.3.0.2 when 2.0 is around is like downloading 1.2 when 1.3 is around.

If you want something simple, you could always put a spike or something with a 1 block gap between it and the ground, so they have to be small to get through, and if they're big (and try the well-known glitch where you can go backwards through a wall), they'll get hit and lose their powerup. you could also have a simple event setup that could block their way back, and automatically make them drop their reserve item with no way of getting it back. This would mean that whenever they left the level, they would be in their small form with no reserve powerup.

SMBX 1.4.x has the F.L.U.D.D. in all 3 types

How does this contribute to the topic at hand in any way?

I think he means that even if you're small, or take a hit, it does not remove the F.L.U.D.D. So, my method of using a spike would still make you small, but it wouldn't remove the F.L.U.D.D.

What? How did you even reach that conclusion? Nowhere does it mention if you're small and take a hit or that it doesn't remove F.L.U.D.D.

I reached that conclusion because:
1) He said 'in all 3 forms', and as there's only 1 type of F.L.U.D.D., I assumed that he meant small, big, and with a powerup
2) I have 38-A, and I after my own testing I found that it doesn't get removed after taking a hit
3) If that's what he meant, then it would be useful to the topic, as it shows a way my method wouldn't always work
4) If he didn't mean that, why would he have posted it on this topic?

tldr there's somewhat of a history with him making semi-related posts that don't contribute much of anything to anything

Well anyway, whether he actually meant it or not, my method still wouldn't get rid of the F.L.U.D.D., so you'd either have to think of something that will remove it, or just not include the F.L.U.D.D. in the episode.
