Iceberg Graphics

Postby HackPlayer7 » Sat Oct 22, 2016 4:38 pm

Hi.
This is my first graphic, it's some kind of iceberg blocks.
I know the left edge has a cut-off and I cannot fix it, no matter what I do.

Image

and people said you couldn't make good things in MS Paint

Pretty good for a first attempt. Reminds me of witchking666's tilesets.

Thanks, it wasn't really hard to make since it took me 5 hours to make the tiles, fix the tiles, rip 2 backgrounds and even make a tiny level.
Since it's quick to make, I might expand and revamp it.

Yeah, It does kinda look like my old ice tileset. A few little pieces of critisism though. The snow is a bit too "edgy" for snow if you know what I mean, most snow has fluffy and smooth textures, If (since you called it an iceberg) It is supposed to be ice, you should make it more blue and flat aswell as add some icicles. The Fill tile is, not gonna lie, pretty darn bad. If I were you I'd make it less vibrant blue for sure but the most urgent issue with the fill (and the tileset in general) is a substantial lack of Shading. If you would add a bit more texture to the fill, apply a darker colour under the snow and create a bit more contrast between the colours of white it would allready look alot better. Concerning the sceneries, I know you didn''t make the small ice rock bgo (since its a world map scene) but you (probably) did make the bigger one. This bgo doesnt really look bad, it does however have a wrong outline (the world map one does too) try to make the outline black instead. Also, like RhysOwens allready said, its a pretty good tileset for a first-timer. But you should definately improve on some of the points I mentioned.

Nice job. An iceberg could use a lighter shade of blue, more to white.

Sorry for the late reply.
Alright, thanks for the advice, witchking666. Could you just give me an example for the filling tiles?
Other than that, I'll make it have more colors, shadings, and a more ''ice cavern'' feeling.

Wrong topic lmao.
He's not using MS Paint. MS Paint will corrupt the picture when saving the image as a .gif. It turns the 2 px to 1 px. So Paint.net is the best choice to use. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :?

I don't know if you actually read the original post but it states that I used MS Paint.
MS Paint corrupts the picture only when you're saving it as a .gif, meaning that if you edit a file that is already .gif, it won't do anything
