The Bramble level looks much better now... also I'm more into playing the full version to the game so I can get into it without restrictions of playing anything on a SMBX Episode or if there are some unfinished business going on and such to go by. Eitherway, I'm so prepared for it's full version!

The bramble levels look a little distracting to me. Everything is really bright and the foreground blends in a little too well with the background.

Hello again. ^_^
After a month of inactivity because of my vacation, I can now proceed with revamping levels from my project. I almost finished world 4 now, which means that there is only world 5 and a couple other levels left to be revamped.
And according to the voting results, there will be a final demo or - if you like to call it so - an open beta. It will not be ready within the next days, so I am sorry for all who voted for something to play over the holidays, but I highly suggest that the beta is ready somewhere next month. I want to have a good and playable beta for you, so unfortunately I need some more time than expected. Sorry again. :-/
I am also a bit surprised that no one fell for the "I just want the graphics, not the levels"-trap. Maybe it was too obvious. xD
I like to thank all the people who gave their vote for the poll. Now I know for real that a beta is liked, even it it asks for a download of a custom .exe. :-)
But now, please have some screenshots of the revamped levels:
I made new custom-designed trees for the level backgrounds of world 4, so there are no ugly redesigned SMB3 snowland-trees anymore. Many people especially disliked the background in level 4-1, so this problem should be fixed now.
Additionally, there are now checkpoints in all the levels, too.
King of Eterity wrote:Sednaiur wrote:
Also, on monday I will be on a vacation for the next 4 weeks, so I will not be able to work onto my project within that time.
That confuses me because of the first point of the post
By this I was referring to the month december, while I made that post in november, by which I meant that I will have more free time from december on. :-)
Supershroom wrote:Oh nice. I wouldn't mind downloading a custom exe.
In this case, the custom .exe is 131MB in size, because of all the custom sounds, music, and GFX. I know that this is a bit much, but there is no other way for me to handle this, since my project already uses all the dummied-out elements. I will look deeper into this, when SMBX 2.0 is out of its beta-state.
MECHDRAGON777 wrote:I am wondering how the visual beta will be? I can care either way, but still. I would play it either way you do it. I guess I will have to select yes for bug fixes. Good luck.
In the actual case, there will be no visual beta, since there will be an open beta instead, according to the votes. I will be happy for your videos. Maybe you can break something legitimately. ^^
PROX wrote:If there's gonna be another beta, I'm all for it lol. I'll even let's play it :P
This would be cool to see. I do not know how you handle lets plays, but I like the way you do commentary, judging from the video of MECHDRAGON777 where you co commentated. :-)
Supershroom wrote:Looks like it's a tie between "yes" and "no". (EDIT or it was)
Officialy it is now a yes. ^^
Wohlstand wrote:I like this episode which provides me so beautiful levels for testing and debug PGE Engine and recording good video demos of it, even it is passing by A2XT characters
thank you very much. ^-^ Maybe you will have a use from all the new levels and elements in the upcomming beta. In any way, I am happy that you made PGE so I can utilize all these neat special things for my little project. :-D

I respect that, and to be honest, one of the votes for "No - I rather like to play the full game." came from me. xD So sorry for cheating, but I would not have counted that one anyways, so no problems here. ^^
I cannot really wait to see your playthrough of my episode. It certainly will be in the upcomming year, as there are only 2 worlds and a couple of extra levels left to do.
TNTtimelord wrote:The bramble levels look a little distracting to me. Everything is really bright and the foreground blends in a little too well with the background.
I already edited the brambles to be darker, so this should be no problem anymore. Also, please take into consideration the paralax and general moving, so I like to ensure you that you should have no problems with the level. :-)

My god, those trees look so sexy. I can't wait to play this episode when completed, it's been four years since you started it already.

I like the new backgrounds you remade. It took you 3 tries to perfect it while for me it took like 4 of 5 to make mine. Right now the visual part of the Game is looking pretty nice. So, I can't wait for the gimic part.

I just finished the refining of world 4, which means that only world 5 and a handfull of other levels are left to be refined now.
Here are 4 more screens of it:
Namely these are levels 4-5 and 4-7, which got some details changed or added.
Level 4-5 now got two new hidden bonus areas and also a hidden shortcut, which will bring the player from almost the beginning to the close end.
Level 4-7 now has less tideous coin bridges and is a little bit less confusing, since it uses my bridge switch-mechanic now.
Some of my levels will contain shortcuts now, for speedrunning reasons aswell as for convenience reasons. The demo 2.1 contained exactly one of those shortcuts and it was located in a level in world 3. Did you find it back then? ^^

I think I understand your situation. So I am sorry for the disappointment.

Thank you a lot. :-D
The small piranha plant is actually stompable, but I need to make that more clear, since not many people seem to know it, so they just spinjump onto them.
If I remember correctly, the small piranha plant is located in 4 levels total, so it is really one of the rarer enemies to encounter.
(P.S: Your avatar is very cool - it is the character "Rouen" from the anime series "Shining Tears" and "Shining Wind". A very good choice, in my opinion. ^^)
Intuition wrote:My god, those trees look so sexy. I can't wait to play this episode when completed, it's been four years since you started it already.
There is only one thing to be called sexy, I say. And that are bishoujo like Boa Hancock and Hinata Hyuuga, I say. ;-P But thank you very much. ^^ When I first made the trees, I didn't really like them, but when I came back from my vacation, I saw them and finished working on them, so in the end I liked them more than I would have expected.
And yes, I already work almost 4 years onto my project now. Just around 2 more weeks and the 4th anniversary would be. But I highly doubt that I am able to release the beta until then. But I try to release it on january the 17th, since that was the date I signed in on NSMBX 4 years ago. I will just thret it as a 4th anniversary on that date. :-P
It is really nice to see you back. I wish you good luck for your future here. ^_^

Thanks. :-)
I don't think that I "perfected" them (the only perfect thing I know of, are bishoujo anyways ^^), but I like them more like I did years ago. When I remember how they looked in the first year of my project, I am rather glad that I made my own custom one by now. xD
I will try to convey a nice and satisfying experience with my episode. :-)

The water in the 1st screen, along with the transition from Underground to Overworld in the 3rd screen both have cutoff. Other than that, the screens look super cool, and I really like the idea of shortcuts! Still looking forward to this!

The beta cannot contain any levels from world 8, as that world has not been started yet, sorry.
About the speed running-part, I cannot record (for now) so I may not put it on speedruns.com for now. Also, I rather would put it on youtube rather than speedruns.com, because my episode is not official in any way. I guess people would point this out to me a lot.

She is not in my project for now, but I may put her in at some point. And yes, I truly believe that she is your type, as she may be about everyones type. ^^ She is sooo cute and sexy that she always hit a soft spot for sure. :-P

Well, there is, especially at the beginning. When I make the opening sequence, it will contain a huge reference to one of these two anime.
P.S: No problem - your avatar really is great. Rouen is a cool and also a kind of funny character.^^
** Short off-topic**: show MECHDRAGON777 wrote:That Naruto reference makes me wish I read every reply ^_^
I also really like Naruto. I collect the series on DVD at the moment and on february of this year I broke my personal record of watching 26 episodes of an anime in one go. Now my record lies at 40 episodes of Naruto in one go(episode 11 to 50), which took more then 15 hours total. I started in the morning and stopped in the late evening. And no, not a single Sednaiur got harmed in any way during that procedure. xD

About the cutoff water: Thank you very much for pointing that one out. I just fixed it. :-)
About the cutoff for the transition from underground to overground: I also thought at first that this cuts off, but PGE just plays the clown on this one by displaying the level-background at the wrong height. Actually, in SMBX it is just fine.
Thank you for your comment in general. It is nice that you like it. :-D

You do not need a run to host it on Speedruns ,com. Also, our animé record is identical I think. I watched the first 100 episodes of Naruto in one sitting.

So, I would just need to post my episode on it, then? I am honestly not sure about it. Also, how would you watch DVD in one sitting going for more than 37 hours? xD That would mean you never leave the house, never eat outside your room, and also never sleep in between, or do anything else anyways, except for visiting the restroom!

I have stayed up 72 hours straight before. Also, I almost only eat in my room... I have e and bad habit of eating in my room while I play SMBX as well... Just happened on Luftschiffattacke though, your episode might work too. It does look and play great ^_^
