I'm not sure it's really an episode to critique because it's just an assortment of contest levels
Yeah, but I have some critiques in things like the hub world not being that good (The MaGLX hubs are really bland, and the CC winners hub has a really inconventional design. It would've been better to model it after the ToB series with NPCs giving fun facts about the levels and contests themselves.), the annoying life system (You have to jump on a block that's hard to reach, and then just farm 3-up moons, which is really annoying, and I don't see why there couldn't just be infinite lives with LunaLUA.) and the fact that there's a disapointing lack of levels (It would've been nice to have the top 3 of the Community Contests instead of just the winners.)

Thanks for your feedback! A complete redesign of the hub has been planned for a while, but nobody got around to doing it yet. The lives system will probably be abandoned completely, as it's useless. I don't think we'll add more CC levels though, as even right now none of the high-ranking CC levels apart from one or two exceptions are really worth playing as they're all pretty bad.

Use this code: Code: Select all local moarrinkas = API.load("moarrinkas")
local NPCParse = API.load("NPCParse")
I don't know if there is capitalization.

moarrinkas is kinda broken and needs a rewrite. You should probably not use it.

No problem! Glad I could help! Also, just pointing out that the Horikawa sprite in the beginning has lots of 1x1 pixels, it would probably be a good idea to fix it!
Also, while browsing though the hubworld's folder, I found this:
It's not used anywhere in the hub, so why is it here? Also, why are the DarkYoshi and Ace statues set to a layer called "Butts"?

thanks for telling me what i did wrong.
Also, how did you figure out my visual tricks?
is those rinka hidden well in the editor?
Enjl wrote:moarrinkas is kinda broken and needs a rewrite. You should probably not use it.
Is that why it won't show up in the editor? Did try to use luna files, and it didn't work?
What about that level that starred Juni? It had all those colored rinkas.

Why did you make the text hidden?
Becuase it works. use #E0E0E0 to make that visual trick work. i know this is off topic please dont sue me!

They aren't in the editor at all. They replace regular rinkas but you have to specify the colour. They aren't integrated as new npcs yet due to the fact the lua file hasn't been rewritten yet.

Ejecting Blocks? Those seem amazing.
I hope that Beta 4 will fix the crash I get

Have you reported that crash? If not, do so. Else we can't help.

I see Hoeloe tried to help out before, but unlike him I recently encountered an error with this log and fixed it, haha!
The key is this:
So... for some reason whenever I enter certain levels of my episode or test them with LUAtester, I get an error in which SMBX Crashes. I have the error right here
Go through the graphics in those levels' folders and check if they're all properly encoded. Make sure all pngs are proper pngs and all gifs are proper gifs. Test it out with one of your levels by re-saving all of your sprites and see if it changes anything.
This took care of this bug for a friend of mine just recently, so it might just help you out, too. Then again, don't be too upset if it doesn't, as the error message gives literally no hint at what it could be and could be anything else obscure.

I've been checking this everyday for months, but I miss a few days and some cool little tidbits pop up!
Those bouncing blocks look like a lot of fun, but more importantly, FROG LINK. I did not see that coming. Really looking forward to the Frog Suit!
Is there a way to have the "Frog Suit-only bubbles" like in SMB3?

 That looks neat!
Hey, it might be cool if you add trampoline physics just like in Super Mario Maker.

I'm not into SMBX creating anymore, so please trust me when I say that I'm not meaning to be selfish by saying this. However...
If anyone else has played a lot of Super Mario World hacks, then they too have probably noticed that since ASM is really hard to learn, people tend to reuse the same custom props over and over again (See: Mouser, Bomb Throwing Monty Mole, Marine Pop), and it's really noticeable because you can tell they're reused (as they have the same idiosyncrasies every time).
In the future of SMBX, will there also be this dichtomy of the minority who create custom stuff, and the majority who is at their mercy (I don't mean mercy in a cruel sense, but I can't think of another word) to gain it? Like, are prefab resources going to be the best most users can do with LunaLua in the future?

If I had to guess, I'd say yes. After all, the whole reason to use a level editor is for ease-of-use; if one is willing to put forth the time and effort to learn a programming language, why learn Lua over something more powerful like Unity?

Yeah I do see where people come from when they argue against the use of LUA because it can only be used with SMBX and nothing else.

Lua is a very popular programming language which has been used, for example, for modding in World of Warcraft. There's also a Lua-interpreter for C# meaning you can technically write entire games in Unity using barely anything but Lua. TRIPLE SNAP!

LunaLua however seems to be an SMBX thing.
