Have you tried increasing the resolution?
I have the resolution at the highest setting by default. I only unzipped the folder called "data". (Well, it's all complicated)
Unzip the whole thing and extract it all into a folder for the application.

That's likely your problem. Extract the whole thing, then run SMBX2.exe in your extracted folder.

To make matters worse, I can't remember what I unzipped! The only thing I know I did unzip was the data folder.

You probably should check the downloads or wherever you extracted the file to see what was unzipped. TBH you should of unzipped the whole thing in the first place, and therefore don't know why you did not.

This version looks very awesome. The only thing i don't like is the new editor. I'm more used to the old editor, but other than that, the UI looks pretty cool, new characters are awesome and i'm very hyped for this. #SMBX2.0HYPETRAIN

This usually means you haven't installed the correct drivers for your graphics card. Many graphics cards will use a generic Microsoft driver until you install the proper one. This will allow them to work, but many features such as OpenGL won't operate properly. You should download and install the drivers for your graphics card, or update them if they are already installed.

It's amazing that Smbx and LuaLuna are getting combined to turn into 2.0! But there's a problem. With this version. My computer lags really hard.

How old is your computer? What are the specs?

Can't update drivers because of unknown errors but i've tried this on a better computer with working OpenGL and on both versions i've only got the softlock when Mega-man is fully powered up.

The soft lock may be a bug, we'll have to try and reproduce it. The error is an OpenGL issue though.

How to make the portal warp work? Everytime I test it, nothing happens. I just get stuck on the ground and walk slowly instead of being teleported.

Don't know. You should probably use the insta warp instead

I got from my dad. I'm pretty sure it's from 2007.

It's a Toshiba laptop, the System Model is Satellite L505 and my processor is Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU and T440 2.20Ghz (2 CPU's) 2.2 GHz.

The portal warp is for SMBX 38A and PGE-only levels(.lvlx). Won't work in 2.0

My processor has only 2.0ghz for both cores and SMBX runs phenomenally well. What's the Ram? Did you optimize your computer?(As in disk cleaning, disk defragmentation, disabling unnecessary background programs etc.) Doing these things should help speed up the game as well as your computer as a whole.
