Are you referring to the grey parts? If that's the case, then you can't, as they're the boundaries of the level.

Are you going off the level window screen? If so then it should have changed into an arrow and taking it further off will change it into a normal cursor. That's normal.

I've heard this bug before. What's your operating system?

On IRC, he told us he uses Windows 7 x64, and added that the bug didn't occur on Windows Vista x32.

I have the same problem, by the way, on both Windows 7 x64 and Windows 7 x32.

I'm also using a 8GB of ram with a HDMI and an AMD Phenom II Processor, ATi Graphics card 4650 series (I think) with only 2GB running it.

Simply resize or move the Level Window and you should be able to place blocks in the whole area again. It's a bug that occurs when part of the Level Window is off-screen during the level making and you then make the off-screen part visible again not by moving the Level Window, but by scrolling the big SMBX Level Editor window around the Level Window.

I've tried everything and nothing fixes it.

It only happens when your screen isn't big enough for SMBX (Resolution wise) I have it happen to me a lot, so I have to have windows overlap each other in the editor, or scroll down to use the bottom half of the screen with the other windows at the bottom.
