In your level, make sure you have a key and keyhole somewhere, of course. Then on the world map, when you select a level tile and input the level's information, there are four dropdown boxes for different path directions. Make sure you select a certain type of exit (or Any) for one path, and then set a second path to "4 - Secret Exit".

There's some wonky behavior when you try to put the keyhole on an invisible layer and have it appear later, but I forgot the details.
A hidden door should work just fine, though. So if you wanna make a keyhole triggered by a P-Switch, just put a hidden door and the corresponding warp on an extra layer of your making and set up the "P Switch - Start/End" events to show it and hide it.

Sorry for bumping a two months old thread, but how do I make it so the door says it is a secret exit?

Soory for Bumping, but Chad can't you just make any Exit a Secret Exit? - You just have any exit as a 2nd one. Also you can have up to Four Exit anyways...

No. The keyhole exit is the secret exit.

To be specific, it does not really matter which exit you choose in order to make it a regular or a secret exit. For example, if I want that SMB3 Boss Exit (SMB3 ? Orb) a regular Exit and the SMW Gate Exit (SMW regular Gate) a secret exit, it is allowed inside a SMBX Episode.

I figured OP was referring to the keyhole, but yes, any exit can work. Just make sure the information on the world map's corresponding level tile matches.

Yeah, just mark it on the world map as the exit that leads to the secret path. The only thing you can't do i make the same type of exit a secret exit. Although the key exit is called "Secret Exit" in game, it doesn't actually matter which one you choose to be the secret exit.

So then, why did you tell me "The Key is the Secret Exit" when I was saying/telling exactly what bossedit8 Said?! *Shakes Head*

The key is CALLED the secret exit. It isn't necessarily the secret exit, it is just CALLED that.
