Well the way the H&S forum runs is that it has a bunch of "quick questions" that would be much better off handled lives because the threads there kind of play out like a chat conversation at times rather than a long form back and forth discussion on a forum. The tutorials are fine as they are now and I don't think any more would be needed until there's some FAQs in the Discord chat that a tutorial could just be created and then linked to in the future. I think it's a big jump, sure, but it's a jump in the right direction.

Curious, because there's benefits to real time support.
I think so - a lot of users here just don't use the Discord. There's nothing wrong with it, but the forums aren't something that can just be replaced - they allow for much more organized archival, anyways, which is not really something that Discord offers.

I don't think a Help & Support channel would hurt, but I don't think we should get rid of the Help & Support forum.

I'm not sure if anyone is using it for archival purposes because again, people approach it like a chat room and post quick questions without looking around too much. I think a live approach would be much better, but I think keeping both would probably show how successful one vs. the other is.

A help and support channel would be fine until the same questions are being asked over and over again.

What we really need to do is improve the SMBX help system that's included with the game and/or put stuff like that on the wiki or in sticky threads.

They'll start reading them if you put up a sign that says "you should totally read this". Besides, if people are looking for something in particular, I'm sure they'll look for something. Don't assume the worst out of everyone, because you know what happens when you assume.

Whether or not they're initially read isn't the point - it's something we can easily direct them to rather than having their question answered several times.

Help & Support should definitely be kept for convenience and people who don't want to "bother" with Discord. We could make a kind of FAQ / glossary thread to list all of the basic questions that are asked here and then, so we encourage people to look at there first.

Oh, well yeah that's basically what I was getting at with a H&S channel on Discord where the forum would just be used to contain topics to be linked to if things are asked over and over again. Like the H&S forum can be made into a tutorials forum where instead of having a flood of specific and small questions, there's: tutorials, guides, wiki links, and all of those questions are compressed into a thread (what I tried to do with my QTDDTOT topic but it kept being buried) which would be way more beneficial.

A FAQ thread exists but it's not kept up with. As I mentioned above I made a QTDDTOT (Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread) topic where people could just go in and ask a question and get a quick answer, but the problem with the H&S forum is that people go in it to ask things and not read things so it got pushed back a bunch of pages and died. There's way too many specific questions being asked to expect anyone to be able to make a comprehensive FAQ that would be of use, and with how frequent and different questions asked are it would not be reasonable to even try and keep up with it. The best route would be to have as much information upfront as possible, with the easy fix/non-issue stuff minimized as much as possible.

If I were to provide icons for the forums (e.g: online/offline status message), what would be the odds of one of them being used?

So, a few things happened tonight:

- We have decided to retire the Level Judges group.
- We have decided to also retire the Fan Fiction and Roleplaying forum. All relevant fan fiction has been moved to the Art Board, which is now the place to post that.

We have some plans in the works for the future of SMBX as well. I won't say anything now (besides the fact that it unfortunately is not the SMBX source code), but it'll be good.

We have an online icon that displays in the top-let corner of posts.

Well, technically you can't call an image with the text "ONLINE" an icon. I was actually thinking of something like an on/off light bulb, or colored *something* for online status and a gray *something* for offline status.

I think it's alright the way it is, but if you want to design something and send it feel free. No guarantee it'll be used, though.

Is it good enough? If it's too big I can try to find a workaround.
