Joey perhaps you should use a new uploading site for the download. Or we just link the one from wohlstand, so the fake takedown notices might stop then.

DropBox is good, but it has a VERY bad con: shared URLs are not persistent and there are sometimes are changing or automatically disabling by unknown reasons. That makes DropBox be hard-useful for pesistent shared downloads. Google-Drive, Mega and Yandex.Disk are has no this con.

Nintendo is attacking fan games left and right. They demanded the removal of Pokemon Uranium, the Metroid 2 Remake, and over 500 games on gamejolt.

[Vinesauce] Vinny apparently said one of the reasons he doesn't plan another SMBX contest is because Nintendo is going increasingly nuts about copyright. They even forced the removal of his Chaos CompleXX romhack playthrough on the full Youtube videos.

All this in the leadup for Mario Maker planned for release on the 3DS. Nintendo went after Youtube channels with romhack playthroughs before the first release.

In short, don't be surprised if they try to take down SMBX again.

Good on you, fighting the system. SMBX is completely fair use; I've yet to see anyone make money off of the product.

So, that means SMBX itself is illegal in USA (where are most of killed fan-games are made), but not in other countries

It's normal in USA to find any ways to earn money. Include legal and illegal ways.

P.S. C&D would also physically kill this site too, so, be careful and avoid this BEFORE that will happen, and ad-box is DANGER thing, and must not be used on fan-projects. It's "way to earn money", and this copyright stuff is a "way to collect more people" to ... use them to show them ads and receive money from that.

Even I'll describe content of my talkhative with lawyers year ago (even it's by Russian laws):
If I using any copyrighted stuff, i CAN'T EARN MONEY from that. Anyway, even I used that stuff, I have a danger to take treat. I told them I don't plan take money from that and project is open for everyone, and no purposes to earn money. But lawyer noticed me: "But it is very so attractive, and in some moment you will can't restrain to don't earn money from this". And I remembered Redigit who used lot of ads on original site... So, Is no way I use any dumb ads myself. Much more money I would earn by my regular job, by selling a separately made games in future, etc. There are asked me how much people per day I have, and there are told: if you have 10/100/1000 visits per day, right holders are afraid. But if you have >10000, there are will carefully watch for you and will catch you if you will try to do some.

They "accidently" deleted the folder for the screens. Just make a new one and it should work again

I believe zipped folders don't allow empty folders by default, which is why this happened. I should've just put a text file in the folder or something, so that's my bad.

If it weren't then there would be no community here. I would however recommend that you download SMBX 2.0, as that is where most of the community is moving to, and there are some episodes that will require it: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=16814

Ftr I think it's still better to start out with 1.3.0.1, to get to know to the basics of the game and the designer. Stuff like Lua and PGE is more pro league, heh.
