Hey guys, we've got a little tutorial here that might make you be able to shit out jokes faster than nintendo shits out DMCAs
First of all, you gotta keep in mind that humor is subjective, meaning that your jokes won't please everyone. However, this does not mean that some target audiences are more important than others.
That said, the first step is to find your target audience. For example, let's say we walk into a children hospital. They'll usually find lighthearted jokes funny, a typical dad joke should work in this scenario, ex: "What do you call a loud bear? Unbearable!". The previous joke should be able to please the target audience.
A joke that wouldn't work in that specific environment would be something like "What do you call a sexy paraplegic? Hot wheels!", because that might offend a lot of them, making them feel sad to the point where you'd get kicked out of the hospital. But that joke should work on any group of horrible people, such as any redneck you can find in the south, though it might need some paraphrasing in order to have them understand it.
The previously mentioned target audience might also be pleased by racist jokes, such as "Do all black people have a problem with slavery? Or just mine?". That should get a few laughs out of people if they're racist as well. This joke would probably get you killed if you told it in front of a BLM protest though, because your life doesn't matter enough for a racist joke.
So in other words, the steps to making a joke are:
1.-Find your target audience
2.-Connect ideas that might appeal to said target audience
3.-Put them together into one or two sentences that deliver the punchline in an optimal manner
But wait! How do I find my target audience if the crowd has varied opinions?
This scenario is quite common, but unless you're doing standup comedy, it shouldn't be hard to find a specific group of people to joke with. And if that's not possible, it might be best for you to try your hardest and make a joke that will appeal to everybody. This might be a bit difficult though, so it might be best to just not make a joke.
What are other cases where not making a joke is the best option?
Well, it should be common sense to acknowledge that you should probably not joke in very serious environments, if you didn't figure this one out you probably have some sort of mental disfunction.
But there's a lot of other subtle scenarios where making a joke just isn't worth it. One of them is when a joke has been repeated so much it has lost its strength, ex: me yelling "n***er" every 5 seconds. However, sometimes it's difficult to know when you're just beating a dead horse, so you might flat out need people's feedback on the subject at that point.
Another scenario is when everyone is too sensible, which means that making a joke might be VERY difficult without offending (triggering) someone/making yourself cringe. Which leads to another thing: if you don't have fun with your jokes, don't bother, it's a waste of your time.
In conclusion, the best thing to do for a joke is to respect step 1: "find your target audience". This should make your work a lot easier and it should make you enjoy yourself with a couple of other people.
TL;DR: make good jokes
