Homeschooled kids turn out better than kids that go to public schools on average, and if companies had to convince people to buy classes from them instead of forcing everyone into facility nobody wants to be in then parents would have no reason to teach on their own unless they either had the desire and time to do so.

https://www.nmu.edu/education/sites/Dru ... thi_MP.pdf See pages 13 and 14 for comparisons between homeschool vs public school.

As for public school vs homeschool, I could post a whole link dump of the problems with public schools and advantages of homeschool, but I'd really like to a citation other than "sounds right to me" for how public school students turn out better than homeschooled. Like I could point to the drop out rates, the poor school lunches, effects of bullying in captive environments, the lack of rigor in education, poor teacher performance, etc. but I've talked a lot about this subject elsewhere, and there never seems to be any call for public school defenders to justify their statements.

Come on. Everyone knows that line got stale years ago. :P

Sometimes it's about more than just the education and grades. People need to understand what a group environment is like, and the elementary school age could be the right time. There are limits though, as you're not going to play "Capture the Flag" or "Dodgeball" in a head office, so I can't apply the group environment to Physical Education. That could be more independent.

And once you get to the high school age, it's time to try something different. I'd be in favor of online learning, and community programs for classes that require the use of real equipment (almost exactly like what I mentioned in a comment about post-secondary education on the "Free Speech" topic).

I still understand why it's necessary to have an education system for anyone under 18, though the current one is not necessarily what works.

OK, fair enough. Thanks for providing actual information. I don't necessarily think that public schools are better, but they are considered the standard at least in the US, so extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, you know? But you provided that evidence so thanks.
