Looking to make a level disappear after completion.

Postby Blubberislife » Fri Mar 25, 2016 8:02 pm

I'm aiming for a particular level to disappear after being completed, like the Toad Houses in various Mario games. It would also be acceptable for the path leading to the level to be cut off, basically anything preventing the player from using it multiple times. Is this possible, or am I just out of luck?

I don't think that's possible in vanilla SMBX, but you could probably do it using LunaLua.

You can in SMBX 1.4.2 but not on SMBX original, only with 1.4.2, LunaLua or LunaDll (<-- something like that)

You can just block the entrance of the toad house using a SMW star, you don't need to use LunaLua.

That is not what he means. You could try the above suggestions or the hard way, if you don't have and not willing to download the said tools, then the hard way would be to replicate that part of the map and exclude the toad houses. That would be stressful and highly not recommended though, but it is either this, what others said (and perhaps will say) or you are out of luck.

Why would you replicate the map?! Just use LunaLua to draw an image of a normal tile, etc. overtop of the Toad house and then block the player from moving a certain direction depending on their x and y-co-ordinates on the map
