In need of some desperate help.

Postby Blaarg » Mon Mar 14, 2016 8:29 pm

Hello, all. Blaarg here from the grave. I know this is very sudden and random, especially because I haven't even shown my face around these parts for about a year, but if you could all read this and consider it, it would be greatly appreciated.

So it is my senior year in high school and I am oh so excited to take the next step in my life--college. However, very recently, something just awful happened to me.
Someone hijacked my bank account and spent every last penny from it.
Without that money I had from working for the past couple of years, I'm not sure how I am going to be able to pay for my college. I would explain more, but all of it is in my GoFundMe project I started in hopes that people may donate a little to help out.

Everything is on the webpage, and you can read about it here: [redacted]

I understand if this is not permitted on the forums, but I thought it would be a good place to share it. I also understand if it's not very trustworthy... of course, none of you know me personally, but all I'm asking is you at least check it out.

Thank you to everyone who checks the page out--it would mean the world to me if you did so. If you could share it with other friends and family, online, or anything, it would be so greatly appreciated as well. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

1) Don't go to a forum full of kids asking for money, it's not going to benefit you.
2) Your money is insured by the FDIC if it's in a bank account, and you should be able to get it back so your claim seems pretty suspicious that you were hijacked.

Call/go to your bank and try to sort things out.

Also hi.

Hello, Joey. Good to see you again.
We are sorting things out at the moment with the bank, but for some reason, they don't think they can get the money back. I have no immediate proof that I did not spend the money, so I don't know if it's just my bank doing this but they said they're not sure if they can do much.

Who do you bank with, and when did you find out that your money was taken?

Vantage Credit Union. We found out this morning, the money was spent/withdrawn at 8:38 PM.

Well since you reported the fraud within two business days you shouldn't be held liable for the money lost, and your bank should be launching an investigation. You'd probably need to review your contract with them though and what protections they offer you. The details of how the money was taken, how the transaction was made, and where can effect the investigation and you should be entitled to all of your money back. If you haven't already, you should request that your account be restricted if there is any funds remaining until the situation is resolved.

I don't blame you, do as you will. If only I was kidding though, things would be much easier. And funnier.

And Aero, I'll try that, thank you. I'll reply back if I get any positive word.

Have you been to your credit union's physical branch location yet? If you're just talking to them on the phone or online and they're not giving you your money, go and actually visit them to sort things out.

How exactly was your account "hacked"? Did someone steal a credit card number? A username and password? An account number? A debit PIN? Your SSN?
