Sherbet Skywaves (CC12 Winner)

Here is my CC12 entry that I actually... really did not expect to win. On a personal level, this level was super experimental for me because of an attempted shift in design philosophy. I wanted to cut down on the consistent flaws of previous levels while still maintaining what was good, so this level is basically an attempt to make the anti-SMSE: no Kirby music, no insane length, no backtracking, no switch blocks whatsoever, more direct/straightforward design, and an effective central gimmick. Moving water is a major focus, but while it's definitely nothing new anymore, I saw a lot of potential for enabling tricky interactions and strategic playing, and this is the result I came up with. I had no idea what placement to expect from submitting this to the contest since it plays a lot less traditionally, but I'm certainly not complaining. Hope you enjoy it!

It's an ocean's dream! Anyways, I LOVE the design of the levels. I love the different colors or sand and the flying cheep~cheeps! Even the variety of coins. I just love it.

Good level and nice graphics. The gimmick is very good executed, however I feel a big NPC spam in some parts where the gimmick is executed. Swim with moving water and dodge the enemies make the level very hard.
I don't see anything innovator except the gimmick and this level not deserved to win in my opinion (but you deserved to win previously).
I give 7/10.

this level was good. The gimmicks all worked very well for this level. The gameplay was pretty solid, the level looked visually appealing. I found the walking fish to be strange, but creative and different as well. :P The moving water with all those urchins made things a little difficult, but it wasn't all that bad. I would probably give this one an "8" personally. Anyway congrats!

I played this level and it's just... amazing. Congratz on getting 1st place.
True I don't like it as much as Magical Malice Castle but it's still a great level to play. I'd give this level a 9.25 or a 9.5 personally.

I feel like this had the same treatment as Sezixor's CC6 level.
And I played this and found a reason why, the way you used it's gimmick and made the level focus on it throughout almost the entire level was excellent.
I loved the mesh with Cheep-Cheeps and Galoombas, although I think you went a little too far with the idea of them being there at two spots:
1. When the water is being lifted, the Para-Cheep Cheeps were kinda annoying at times.

2. Near the end, it didn't really make sense that there were 3 at once.

The moving water gimmick stood for a long time, I also liked how the Urchins are in the air, it looked weird but awesome!
It felt a little short, but this is good because so many past winners were long, I liked the color mixing too.
Anyways, great work and once again Congratulations on winning CC12. ;)

A great level overall, but the enemies can be extremely annoying sometimes.
